What car should i get?
I don't like the look of the S4, specially since i know what the RS4 looks like. 996 is out of my budget and so is a clean E55 (not to mention that bodystyle is changing too). And Honda?
Eh wtf...
Have you ever driven a 335i? The clutch and gearbox on the 335i is less than satisfying, IMO. The 6-speed automatic is a great transmission.
The 335 is a great car. It is very tuneable. Local guys are making big power from these cars.
Are looking for coupe or sedan? The 335 can be either.
Also an E46 M3 another great and tuneable car.
No wonder you went back to Cali, heck Tallahassee is a small town (boring)
Checkout Miami / Ft. Lauderdale / Palm Beach.

modern automatics in the new bimmers are AMAZING. they even blip the throttle on downshifts. granted, there's a slight delay when you request a gearchange (unlike SMG which is instantaneous), but, again, unless you're doing track use -- at which point you're betting leaving it in SPORT-AUTO -- so what. i dunno. maybe at nearly 29 i'm just getting old lol and i'm just over pure raw sport sensation for daily street driving. either that or finishing law school in 2 weeks has made me too paranoid to have fun
that said -- and this, coming from a buy who grew up driving nothing but stick his whole life until 3 yrs ago -- if you really need an actual clutch pedal to have fun with a car, ok then, they with stick. cuz honestly, i got over it lol. and yes, i'm totally "fluent" with stick: i heel/toe naturally, 100% of the time, etc. so that's not the point: the point is i just got over it, and modern autos are fine, and it's not like i'm "racing" on the streets anyway.
for occasional track use? modern autos are great.
but yeah if you want the actual clutch pedal, or need it to have fun, go for it. 335 all the way. SMG gets ANNOYING for street use cuz it's harder to drive smoothly than stick as it requires too much conscious rather than subconscious thinking: you've only got one variable -- the throttle -- to modulate rather than two, and this means you gotta really second-guess the computer and get yourself to know how it'll modulate the clutch based upon however you're driving when you demand a gearchange.
in a word, terribly FATIGUING.

i say 335 all the way, either coupe or sedan...i loved my e46 m3, which was a fully modded N/A car short of a SC or turbo, and i dont miss it. it was fun, but so is my 335.
edmunds just did a test of the 335, 135 and e46 m3, and all three were neck and neck all the way, and in a lot of stuff the m3 lost. had the 135 and 335 not been on run flat tires they would have beaten out the m3 on the handling course too, in which the 335 only lost by .35 seconds, yes, point three five. plus the e9X chasis is world better than the e46 chasis. much less understeer and body roll, thats why the new m3 makes a mockery of the e46 m3.
