X6 M test drive

new pics of the X6 M and some info on the upcoming X6 M :

around 550 hp,produced by the Biturbo V8
lap time on the Nordschleife should be at the level of the current M3
all wheel drive, but mainly rear wheel drive with the front wheels coming very late into play to prevent understeering

info from autobild sportcars who interviewed the head employee of the M division

I saw this view in my side mirror not too long ago and let me tell you,the huge air intakes look very mean when seeing it in person!

Why did they cover up the roundel? It's not like anyone can't instantly recognize the vehicle for a BMW. Oh wait, Pontiac has the same basic "kidney bean" front fascia now, and there was the Aztek...

Dumbest car BMW has ever made, what the hell is happening. BMW is going in the wrong direction with the vehicles it produces. You cancel the M3 CSL because supposedly there is no market for it, but hell I guess the market for racing SUVS is booming. Stop trying to make cars that can do everything well, make cars that can outperform everything in their relative category. The last thing an X6 driver thinks when sitting in his SUV is "I wish I could somehow shave 15 seconds off my ring time". Even the new M3 is a dissapointment, though it is a great car. Instead of making a firebreathing/raw performance vehicle thatcould be used everyday, BMW decided to make a 2 door GT. They should have built a perfomance car that is practical, not a practical car with some performance. In my opinion the last great M car for a while is going to be the E63/E60 M5/M6. With BMW switching to turbos, the F1 inspired NA V10 is going to make the E60/E63 the last great M cars in a while.

I assume that it will be selling well in Europe...
In Germany, the X6 was immediatly sold out and one had to wait at least a year from the date of ordering to get a factory new car.

These strong SUVs like the Cayenne or the ML are more of a status symbol, than a vehicle that is bought because of it`s capabilities...
If you are wealthy, you buy a SUV for your wife and the kids and/or for showing up in St.Moritz,Kitzbühl in style and you for yourself or for business own a Porsche,MB AMG,Audi (S)A8,BMW 7 series,Maserati,Bentley or Aston Martin.

well...that`s true..

but every brand goes that direction nowadays
even Porsche is going away from their earlier ideals of raw and pure sportscars
