335i. driven both extensively and brother has m3.
i think the 335i is more refined and just as fast.

handling? M3 should be better?
Also, the SMG on the M3 should be a better transmission?

Since I've owned both I'd say an Automatic 335 is better then an SMG II E46 M3 if modded. If stock the M3 has a slight advantage several test have shown the 335 to be just as good as the E46 M3 even on Runflat tires.

I do agree the e46 body is outdated obviously, but the e46 M3 is still good too look at.

As for me, 335 may be new and more refined, but I seriously can't stand seeing soo many of them around So Cal. They're more popular than civics!

a chipped 335i will dust a stock m3 anyday. and yes this is coming from an m3 owner but personally I still love the e46 look more than the e92

The 335 is fast, and may be faster (modded) than a E46 m3, but its not a "M" car. You dont have the high revving engine, stiff suspension, or the feel of a real sports car...

I've had both. Went from the M to a 335, and then sold the 335 b/c it got too boring. Its definitely a fast, comfortable car, so it really depends on what you prefer more... handling and ride of a luxury car, or a true sports car.

I've owned both and I got to say I had much more love for the e46M3. The 335 was faster with a chip but not quite as fun. Now I own a E92 M3 and that's a different story...

I have also owned both and agree that the E46 was much more fun to drive. I had the JBX in my 335i and it was definitely faster than the E46 but it bored me and I did not like the handling. That is precisely why I'm back in an M3 but this time an E92.

I have driven both cars and still own my E46 M3, there is just no way u can say the you would rather have a 335 over a e46 m3. The speed may be the same but when any kinda turns come into play its over, and the M3 is WAYYYYY MORE FUN then a boring 335 IMO. It even looks sexyer.

what kind of 335 are you talking about?

if money is available :
ecu + suspension + bbk + full exhaust + intake + wheels
= completely different 335

even the european M-sports package 335 is very different to the standard 335

but well,a M is a M and can`t be replicated
