Haven't seen any yet... could be a really fun weekender especially in roadster form, and not nearly as common as an E46. Anyone?

They don't make a kit for the Z's. Just m3s

To clarify, both the e46 m3 and the z3/z4 m coupes use the s54 engine, but HPF only makes a kit for the e46 M3. While some items could be adapted, many others couldn't. Just to name a few that certainly wouldn't work would be the methanol tank, intercooler, downpipe, exhaust and manifold. The z4 has a super tight engine compartment, which would likely require a different exhaust manifold +downpipe.

However, it could make some sense for them to create another kit. They could reuse the injectors, the tuning, most of the meth injection items (with trunk mounted tank?) and possibly the intake manifold, along with all of the engine internals. They also have the know-how and experience required to create a kit for the z4.

I doubt HPF will make a kit though. Even if they could reuse a good portion of the parts, the demand for such a kit would incredibly small. A lot of work would be required to squeeze everything into that engine bay, and I would imagine it would be 2-3 years before the income from kits overtook the R&D costs.

Thanks a lot for the info. I didn't realize it was that tight in there.

Its not impossibly tight, and it depends upon whether we are talking about the later z3 M cars with the s54, or the z4 Ms. I know the z3 engine bay is tight, and I imagine it only got tighter with the new car.

ICS,a company that does a lot of custom turbo work for BMWs in Conn, has a twin turbo z3 M coupe. So it is possible to get everything in there.

I believe there are supercharger kits available right now for both Z cars. Those kits are much closer to their e46 m3 counterparts than a turbo kit would be. A supercharger also makes much more sense when dealing with a engine bay that has very little side-to-side clearance.

I wonder how many z4 kits HPF would actually sell in a year? I doubt they would move that many, maybe 4 a year compared to the 15-20+ e46 kits. However, once the price of the Z4 Ms drops to the current e46 levels, that number may jump quite a bit.

A 650whp M coupe would be an awesome car, certainly something I'd like to see if they do exist.

ESS Tuning can get a Z4M up to about 500 - 550whp with its ASA supercharger kit. For now, thats what the power number guys in the Z4M are running. I'm sure its still an absolute hoot of a car.

Everything should bolt fine in the Z4M, with minor modification.

Its the intercooler piping, intercooler, and exhaust that seems to be the only parts that should be modified to fit the E46 M3 kit on a Z4M.
I would LOVE to see an HPF Z4M!

We've got a different ECU, one a couple of generations newer than the E46 M3, from what I understand; that seems to be a big stumbling block.
