997S vs E92 M3...Thoughts/Opinions
There was also a comparison where the M3 beat the 997 turbo around Laguna Seca.
The MKI 997's also have no limited slip.
Don't know where you are getting your info.
Ridiculous, several comparisons have shown the M3 outpacing the 997. Car and Driver did a direct comparison with a MKII, the M3 beats it significantly around the track.

Nope, you are thinking of NiteRider's car, you probably see it from time to time.
Mine is a black DCT coupe. If you want to check it out sometime let me know, what is your ride?

NiteRider's M3 is fast as hell, now I remember his car, the 6-speed with the gutted interior. It had no traction in 1st and 2nd gear,
.I would love to check out your car oneday as I came from a VF blown pearl white E46 M3 before I got my 4s two years ago. Man, I sure deeply miss the neutral handling of the M3's.

Just recently sold my 02' 4s, I'm in the market for a 996T or 997T..

Yep, his is the 6 speed with roll cage, racing seats, etc.

I agree, the technology of the new slushboxes is ridiculous and I might not ever go back to a true manual. PDK, DCT, 8 speed autos etc. are going to the be the norm and they are here to stay!
-just say........ing
Me and my ego know how fast

How does it work when trying to exit a corner? Extremely well, because I have a limited slip differential and the 997S does not

And stock for stock, the M3 is faster around the track, so what are you even talking about?

For a daily driver, M3 hands down, especially if you're driving that many miles. I currently own an 06 C2S and have owned an e46 M3. I read in several spots that the 911 is a sports car that can be driven daily. I disagree. As a matter of fact, I just bought a VW GTI so that I can enjoy the Porsche on weekends and still have a fun car throughout the week.
I also just drove the new M3 and I was very impressed. I know I'm going to get flamed in the M forum for this, but I don't think it's anywhere close to the raw/visceral feeling that the Porsche provides, but the M has many other advantages that the 911 can't touch. Two different animals.

As dnewc2s says, they are two different animals. I have owned every M3. I currently have a 2008 E92 M3 coupe. I also have a 2010 Porsche C4S. I have owned every C4S beginning with 1997. A BMW will NEVER be a Porsche! Which is OK. They aren't intended to compete with each other. You have a sports coupe vs a true sports car. Four seats vs really only two seats. Different price points and different quality. Different missions. They are both good daily drivers. I had a 1995 3.2 Carrera coupe that I used as a daily driver for 10 years. I'm not sure my new M3 is better than my 2007 Audi RS4 in this regard.
Porsche is a much more driver envolving experience than any BMW
Sure the M3 is a much better DD, but not a better car than a 911S (whether C2S or C4S)
I have an X3 since 4 years and find it to be perfect. Last year I wanted to trade it in and get a new M3 with DCT. I test drove the car and felt the handling to be very neutral, but the test drive didn't excite me at all, nothing...
In the end, I bought a new C4S with PDK and kept my X3. I only use the C4S 2 or 3 times a month, but every time I use it it's an incredible experience, which the M3 won't do
If I didn't have enough money to finance my toys, then I would have gone for M3 as a DD. But comparing the M3 to a 911S is not appropiate, the 911S is a true sports car
And if you can go a step further, then get a GT3, which is the best 911 there is !
