Forced to buy navigation on M3 in 2010?

I am buying a M3 coupe when my current lease expires in February. I recall reading somewhere that the 2010 M3 will have the Navigation standard and that it cannot be deleted. Is this correct and if so when will this occur? Maybe I can "time" my order as late as possible to avoid the change. I hate that crap on my cars.

Thank you.

I haven't heard this yet. I doubt it would be standard since it's a good money maker for them.

I thought the same way until I had it. Unless you buying it to be a track specific car, what the difference?

agree, once you have it you'll see that its a pretty helpful thing and i doubt it adds that much weight if performance is your issue.

The reason that I refer to the Navigation as crap (in my opinion) is that a handheld (and new iPhone for that matter) is just as good, and as most systems are updated, they are making them impossible to work while the car is in motion. Of course, I don't want to use while driving, but my passenger might want to. In my friend's new Toyota for example, you have to be stopped and in park to operate the navigation!

I am not against them, I just want to have the option to eliminate the unit because I won't ever use it that's all. I'll use the $2100 for other options that I will enjoy.

I agree, I like my sport car simple and I have Telenav voice guided GPS in my cell. It works very well and I can take it with me when I travel in rentals.

If I want navi in my car I'll bring my garmin. I prefer it without navi too.
