E9x M3 Supercharging

So anyone out there have any linked threads or good info reads on the supercharging of the E9x? Read a really good thread on ESS systems, here there is also G-Power and one others I think. It really looks like the ESS does their HW before selling to the public. I"m in the market to get an M3 I think, and want to make it FI. Was also looking at a CTS-V but I like the looks of the M3 over the v, and if I can make it FI as well.....

Thanks all.

ESS is a solid system but is not really "out" yet. You have to send the car to Arizona to get it installed.

I have the Gintani supercharger and am EXTREMELY pleased. They don't just give you some cookie cutter kit. You have a custom tune and whatever bells and whistles you want.

VF is going to take... well however long they intend to take was way too long for me plus they don't do custom water/meth tunes or anything other custom aspects I want.

AA is taking forever as well and we haven't heard anything on their front for months, not even a dyno.

Personally, I would advocate Gintani if performance is your main concern. There kits actually exist and they have more cars running SC's than anyone else right now...

Curio,

Do you have the DCT or 6 speed? If you have the DCT how does it perform with the extra hp and tq? EES remaps the DCT or changes the ECU depending on what you want or if you take the car there to make it perform better.

Thanks for the information. I'll look into Gintani.

curio has DCT, and so do I (supercharged gintani). My DCT system runs like stock. Perfect shifts, no issues.

Ya I think that ESS DCT remap is a crock anyway because both of the Gintani DCT S/C cars don't have any such tranny programming and run beautifully. And ESS has stated that you shouldn't run more then 570crank hp on a DCT which is also false becuase both of the Gintani S/C cars are much past that mark and have no real issues other then traction thats about it.

From what I have read if u get the DCT remapped u have to have the car sent to ESS. Otherwise all they do is limit the hp through the ECU at shift points.

Gintani stage one makes how much hp? Not much info on their site. or are they just a custom build for every customer?

Is their a good tuner in Houston for this set up? I'd out the instal on myself, but then need a good tuner.....

Ya exactly theres no need to limit the HP between shifts lol. Nor is the DCT remap nesscessary from what I've seen so far. The Gintani kit is custom in the sense you can specify how much boost you want to run within a reasonable range (something like 5.5-8psi) on pump gas and you can choose how you want the manifold colors and either glossy or matte carbon for the intake. Gintani already has a tune for the kits why would you want to try something else thats not proven? One of the Gintani S/C cars has about 12k miles on the kit in a variety of Road course,Drag strip and street driving and no issues at all so I would stick with that no reason to try and reinvent the wheel.

ESS's DCT talk is a crock of ****. They want the car there so no one gets their hands on their software. There is no separate DCT ecu like they claim, it is all controlled from the main ECU. Gintani's tuning changes the same parameters, probably better, as ESS has not shown us anything.

I have the Gintani setup which is basically custom for each individual and I have taken it to the drag strip. ESS has not taken their car to the strip or backed up anything they have said with actual numbers. My car broke 130 mph trap speeds, that says it all.

there isn't a separate comp for the dct? I would think there would be. My car is an auto and it has it's separate comp for it, so it can talk to the ecu. Just figured there would be one for the M3 as well. I do find it fishy that ESS has done a lot of talk, and just talk now...... Kinda sounds like Gintani is the way to go... Nice speeds at 130 in the traps. assuming that put you into the low 10's. Where you on regular tires or DR?

I'd love to get a regular Daily Driver into the 10's Soon Soon just have to get rid of the audi first lol
