Experience with Dealers? Mt. Kisco, Westchester, Greenwich?
SubscribeNo experience with Greenwich or Mt. Kisco but have serviced three bimmers at Westchester which is now Ray Catena. I have been happy overall with their service. Some advisors are better than others but they do I would say an A- job. I am buying an M5 shortly and will service it there as well.
Neal Appleby is one of the best salesguys I've ever had the pleasure of dealing with at BMW of Darien. Not a single bad thing to say about him. As for service, I have been treated reasonably well by the Darien staff and have no complaints.
I went to BMW of Westchester for some collision work and they are horrible. I would never recommend using them for anything that involves work outside of their maint staff.

I have dealt with all 3 in some way, shape, or form.
Here is my breakdown ...
Greenwich - My absolute favorite of the 3. I love their service dept. (great guys and great customer service). I have had pleasant experiences with their sales dept as well.
Westchester - I didn't like the service dept. the one time I brought my M there. The sales dept. is pretty good. Note: This is now owned by Ray Cantena.
Mt. Kisco - I hate their sales dept. By far the worst out of the 3 IMO. I don't have any experience with their service dept. but I would never even consider it.

I have had experience with two of the three(Greenwich & Westchester)...and this experience is since 1989..so I have seen ALL the ownership changes in the two and there were MANY!!!....visited Mt.Kisco once to look at a E46 325xi for my son....salesman was very nice....we just could not agree on a number....so I can't comment.
Westchester is owned by Ray Catena since Nov./Dec. of 2009 have not bought a car from them but there service is not very good...boarderline criminal...by that I mean I had a Service-II done on my son's E46 325xi....and they came back with a laundry list of items that needed to be addressed to the tune of $3k....the ONLY thing that was accurate was the fact that it needed front brakes....they said it needed new CV boots as they were cracked/loose....that it needed new front controller arm bushings...and that the valve cover gasket was shot and needed to be replaced.
Needless to say....I knew it was BS because the car was in an accident and the front controller arms were replaced...so NO WAY it needed new bushings....the CV boots were NOT split...it was the clamps that needed to be replaced......and the "shot" valve cover gasket was actually a small (1/4 size of a penny) issue at the rear of the valve cover.....I dont call that shot by any stretch..and I am **** about service(ask the guy who bought my E36 Track Car..lol)
So right away I did not trust them.....on a side note my wife's 328xi was there for service and the tech left tools in the car...LOL...so when I brought my son's car in...I said to the SA...."I think this belongs to the tech that worked on my wife's car last week"....not even a blink or I'm sorry..
I bought my first M3(89) from them when they were a just opened Factory Store...my Rep . Bill O'Neill was very nice to me.....so much so that I bought my 95 M3 from him again. The service was very good in the begining then gotten progressively spotty....so much so that in 2000 I bought my E39 M5 and an E39 540 from Competition & Sports Cars(What is now BMW of Greenwich).....My rep there was Andrew...and he was great...so much so that I subsequently bought (2)330xi's....the service dept. was GREAT!!!...it was not fancy...(the new Facility)...but all the SA's were car guys and the techs were great...
then the owners got into financial difficulties when they first went to build the big service facility(in CT)...that did not pan out and they built the current one in Port Chester but it bankrupted them....DCH bought them and started to dismantle what was built....I went there 4 or 5 times after and each time the familiar faces were gone and the service level dropped....it got so bad I bought my next two cars on Long Island...willing to drive 1 hour for good service and could not find it!!
...so someone suggested I try DCH again as they responded to the the severe complaints they had when they first took over....and so far so good
....not like it was(car guys) but much better than the begining.
Regards

Yikes...Not my experience at all with Westchester BMW, I have been using them since '03. I may have been a little lienient with the A- but wow...I haven't been raked over like that. I guess the OP just has to try them for himself and decide. Best of luck!! Originally Posted by MCars

Thanks, thanks, thanks, for the fantastic detail. Really helpful. You can find a lot of information about the cars, but not so much on dealers.
Is the Mt. Kisco experience with the old owners or the new? I heard they changed hands or rebuilt or something.
I want to know if a dealer is worth driving to. It might be okay to buy but a pain in the *** to service.

Mt. Kisco has the same owners as it has always had ... it's a relatively new dealership ... I would say it's not worth driving to. Good luck!Originally Posted by LDMerriam

Regarding Mt. Kisco, I heard the old owner Napolito I think was forced to close by BMW and that a whole new ownership and management team is in place. I know the building is new, but I was sure the people were too. Has anyone had any recent experience who could verify if it is just new people or new building and what the service is like. They are closest and I'd need a reason to disqualify them.
I have always looked to buy my cars where I intend to service them...so for me the service aspect is more important....while price is nice...LOL...you will pay for the car once.....you will service it at least for 3 years(lease)...and if the service dept. is a PIA the extra grand or two saved my come back to haunt you...lol
also remember most...not all...but def. most dealers DO NOT offer loaners to people who bought elsewhere.
