DME Scan (or something similar) for M3s

Does anyone know if BMW offers a diagnostic test similar to Porsche's DME scan?

Also, I am looking at buying a 2009 M3, manual transmission, CF roof, nav etc. Any recommendations on what I should be aware of?

The engines in the car are awesome. Drive it and make sure it shifts smoothly and the clutch is in great shape. Some say you can check the "M" settings to see how aggressively they are set, but I don't think that its says much. They E9X M3 likes to be driven hard, so it should be good barring any accidents, carfax and ask the dealer about its history. Every time it was brought in should be able to be printed out by the dealer.

Most codes can will pop up on the iDrive unit but for other CELs you will need a Bavarian Technic scan tool. http://www.burgertuning.com/scanner.html
I can get you a little discount on that or you can convert a laptop to be a BMW GT1 dealer scan tool but that can get quite expensive.

Hes asking if info is stored in the dme from previous drive cycles and available during PPI. Yes, max rpm and frequency is available, as well as launch control history. Any dealer should be happy to relay this info. However you will likely need to request it during the PPI. An Indy shop with AutoLogic should have the ability to as well.
