Battery life.....
Battery life.....
my M5 is coming up on the 1st 5 years of it's life and I'm starting to get a little concerned about the start battery - to the best of my knowledge it's the original (I've had no problems, so far..)
the car is a weekend (and long road trip) driver and when garaged I keep it hooked up to a battery tender
any grim tales or opinions or guesses to relate ? are there any "warnings" of impending battery failure to watch for ?
would hate to get stuck around Gallup, NM or Boise, Idaho while on a road trip
thanks

I just had crazy hydraulic pump issues two Fridays ago. Failed to go into gear and got red cog transmission errors. Couldn't start or move the car in traffic. Ended up having to get it towed. Sat at the workshop for a week before they found that some of the pressure lines feeding the hydraulic pump were being under-voltaged.
My car is a first year build 2005 E60 M5 and this was its first battery. The new battery fixed it all right up.
So yeah, the risk of being stranded is pretty high considering how temperamental the SMG can be.
