I was completely shocked at how fast this thing is. I swear its as fast maybe faster than the M3....Or feels that way. Anyone else had that experience. I imagine the mods are over the top for this machine

It will feel faster than an M3 in everyday driving situations due to the torque in the low end. The M3 has more HP, but it takes you a a little while to get high enough in the RPM range to experience it. The turbo engines are really great for 99% of people because it has plenty of get up and go for putting around town. The N54 engine is capable of huge power with simple bolt on modifications. over 400whp with tune + dp + fmic, throw meth into the equation and it is an absolute monster.

That is true especially if its a manual M3. They seem to need a lot of work to keep the rpm high and the power on tap. But when driving the M3 DCT on a track compared to the 335, you will feel the hp of the M3 and it will feel much faster then any other bmw, even the previous M5 and M6.

The 335 does feel rather fast, but we've lined up our E90 M3 and our E92 335i tuned with Cobb Stage 2+ a few times. The 335 is quick but no match for the M3.

+1 I had a cobb on my 335, which I just sold, and it had some pop to it. Your assessment of the M3 is spot on. I drove one for awhile and around I had to really put my foot into it to get it going.

@ECS Tuning, I would think that with a Cobb stage 2, a 335 should be pretty even with a stock E90 M3

It's very very close but the M3 in the long run gets legs on the 335.

I drove my friends sedan at the track.

It ran 13.5 bone stock on the run flats.

My brother has a 335i with all the bolts-ons (exhaust, dp's, intake, catless), proceed, and water meth...running ms109 the car is an absolute beast...our friends e92 m3 with eisenmann exhaust gets absolutely walked on by the 335...any gear, any speed...doesn't matter. Its not even close...several car lengths at least. His 335 runs high 11's on drags and low 12's on street tires at the strip. Last time out he ran a 12.2 at 118mph with a lousy 60 on street tires.

I have an E60 M5 and when BMW gave me the 335i for a loaner, I was blown away by the performance. Its the low end torque.. very fun for daily driving. Impressive..

I have the new 335i on order. It should be here in about 3 weeks. I originally ordered back in March. Insane!

Anyways, I'm interested in mods. when the car finally arrives. Who are some of the companies I should check out for ECU tuning, etc?

Thanks.

I can say it is NOT nearly as fast as a M3. But it was peppy for a loaner.

I loved my E90 335. Cobb flash tune & BMS DCI only & I pulled a 12.9 @ 109 out of it.
