18's with more tire looks healthy in my book.
Healthy is a strange word to choose.
I'd say thicker tires look muscular, conservative, careful, or understated. Unless you do the stretched look with them. Then there's a lot of other less flattering words I'd choose.
Either way, neither of these looks would I use on a 911. I can easily see 18's on a Boxter. Maybe 18's on the 911 for track use but they'd come off as soon as the session was over.

Agreed. I have raised it 1/4" since the pictures. The small increase in ride height did wonders on my ability to approach steep inclines. I still have no fender gap so it looks just as good in my opinion...
