Bosch vs Valeo alternator for E46 M3
Bosch vs Valeo alternator for E46 M3
My alternator just crapped out on my M3 (due to a pretty massive stereo system).
I believe the OEM was a Valeo. However after doing some research, it seems that the Bosch alt, more powerful than the Valeo, will fit/work. It is also less expensive.
Can anyone confirm?
Thanks

Valeos OEM and should be 120A. As far as I know the Bosch should be 120A as well. Maybe youre right and its a 140A but I can't recall.
In my experience the reman'd Valeo from BMW is a better quality alt. The Bosch starters and alternators do not seem to be holding up like they used to. Bosch is def cheaper, probably almost half then one from a dealer. 2 year warranty from BMW, I think 1 year from Bosch.
For half the price Bosch is probably the way to go. 500+ bucks for OEM/bare bones very basic alt. is robbery.

I got a remannied Valeo from Pep Boys. I had to drive 45 miles to get it, marked down to $129. It also has a lifetime guarantee which will com in handy since my car has a serious sound system.
