Forget M3, look out for the 335i

For all you street racers, it sounds like the new 335i is the car you should all be looking out for. I've been reading some information on the Xede ECU upgrades from Vishnu (known for tuning Evo's http://www.vishnutuning.com/bmw_335i.htm ), and seen some dynos showing 330 whp / 376 wtq. If the claims are correct, 0-60's are in the 4.1-4.2 range.

I have a friend who just picked up a 2007 335i and he's interested in chipping it, so I'll hopefully get a close look at it.

I have heard some bad things about Shiv Pathak (proprietor of Vishnu). I do not know how true they are since I am not involved in Evo community. One example......

Kind of ironic its from David Buschur but he makes some valid points. There was a photo up there in that thread but I guess they removed it.

Do your research before pulling the trigger.

I am getting the feeling that 335i would be able to become a different and stronger monster than the new M3. V8 power with well tuned M3 chassis on one side VS. an already performer coupe with turbos that will most probably become the mod platform for 3 series.

Would you mind filling the 6speed community in on Mr. Pathak and Vishnu?

Thanks.

That is what I am thinking about also, If you want the look of the M3 just tick the Sports kit option for the 335ci, Also it comes with some decent 19" wheels that look great as is.

I would be interested to hear the opposing views. I've read quite a few magazine reviews of Vishnu-tuned cars in in tuner shootouts and they all speak well of their skill, but nothing about Shiv himself. On the BMW forums, he is extremely forthcoming with information and seems very approachable and reasonable (i.e. they resist posting performance numbers from their shop, and instead ask customers to post their data to avoid vendor bias skewing).

(didn't realize there was a BMW forum - sorry for dropping this in the 997 forum where I live )

Yeah, I'd never been a fan of the 3 series. The new coupe with that package is just gorgeous though. Just as striking as the M

Check out various threads in this forum

http://www.e90post.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=58

There's at least 5-6 users already with this mod with dynos to back up the gains. DOesn't look like it's a fluke.
