the only advatage at this price point that the convertible m3 will have over everyone else is the hard top. for people who can only afford or want only one car, that will be a pretty good selling point.

BUT, performance is going to suffer SOOOO SOOO MUCH with the addition or prob 500+ lbs. think about it. the e46 m3 with a soft top convertible wieghed 400 lbs more than the coupe m3, this one is a hard top and thats gonna up the wiehgt even more. look for the vert to be barely faster than the e46 m3 vert.

I thought I remembered reading that BMW M won't be using the 335 hardtop convertible, but a conventional cloth top, so it won't be too heavy.

regardless of weight, for people that want a convertible, that will be a major attraction. i think bmw would be silly to take that differential away and make it a soft top. i agree that performance will suffer but the only other choices out there that can seat four and have a hard top are volvo c70 and the VW Eos. again, people that want a somewhat practical, fun, convertible as a single car would be all over this.

i actually just thought about this, the old vert (e46) fully loaded was right around $65k and that sold just fine.

I thought pricing was out a few months ago already?? base was around $56k??

I've read in a magazine, the vert, would use a carbon fiber solid roof.

let's take into account my GTi. One that is optioned just like mine is 24,727 pounds. (I checked) This amounts to well over $40,000 when we take the exchange rate into account.

now a nicely loaded 335i w/ navi and all the fun toys comes out to just under $50,000 w/o tax. I think the M3 will comand 57-58k for a base and 65k fully loaded

Car taxes in the UK are much higher than the US, so its a pointless comparison. I doubt a fully loaded cab will hit 75k.

Morgan

ps. List here in Denmark will be 245.000$
