The price will be much lower in the US. Check out the pricing on an M5 in the UK for a comparison.

when the rs4 came out i saw one in germany for a nice solid price of 70k euros. then it showed up in the USA and it is $70k. as someone said a comparison of an m5 price in UK to USA should hone in that number a bit... also, if u read the article it compares it closely to the price of the rs4. which if it is true, to me is too much for the m3 (much like it is too much for the rs4)...

Magazines have quoted 65k for a modestly equipped coupe. I can clearly see this running into upper 70's, low 80's for a loaded cab.

for the money, its not worth it. dont forget, they are gonna want at least 10K over msrp when this car arrives here which for a coupe will likely put you into the 80s. thats not even slightly justifyable. as ive been saying all along, you enter into 911 territory with price, youre likely to fail, because the 911 is tried and true success for a serious car that outperforms all the competition it has. other companies *cough aston martin cough* have tried but did not get the job done and failed MISERABLY. anything in the mid to high 60s for an m3 coupe is just too much and way overpriced. thats when you buy a base 997 911 for a little bit more.

Plus, don't forget this is a new engine with SMG3. Even though both are M5/6 variants, I would avoid that car altogether for the first year.

man, i was thinking maybe the car starts at $55k. then add options for about $10k which would track with the current model and the m5. so now you are at $65. still cheaper than the RS4 and supposedly a better car. also, for a cab you would be at around $70k which would almost be justifyable since it will be a hard top. a well equipped boxster S will be around $70k. all things considered you can still play in those price ranges. but you start stepping anything north of $70k ur asking for lots of trouble and you wont see me play...

honestly, for 65-70K im gonna go out, buy a Cayman S (which handles better than ANY m3 or M car period!) then throw a SC on it for 12K and have a faster car as well.

i think what a lot people are forgetting is that while the e46 m3 is a great car, more importantly, it was a great car for the money. once you hit Porsche money territory, Porsche plain and simple makes the better car, unless you need a back seat, which by my account, i dont even allow people to sit in the back of my m3, LOL. id take a cayman s over the new m3 as it looks better, and handles better, and a SCer will make it faster too.
