what the hell is the purpose of all these new age CF etc when it doesnt make the overall car lighter and better? its really is strange to see a day when there are very few car makers who are willing to stick to their orig. objective. the M division has never been about satisfying EVERYONE, at least not until today.

Another thing is the weight, why so heavy? a CF roof a lighter engine and other weight saving material and still an added 250lbs... this is supposed to be a track car, and a track car at near 2 tons... will suffer terribly in its handling characteristics
Porsche and Ferrari are imo the ONLY car makers out there who are sticking to making cars for a purpose and for a specfic group of people (who can afford ferraris as well) and the M division used to be this group, they are making this M for the masses and like you said, its to satisfy everyone...
This is my edited part im just adding something:
i just saw that 335's are running mid 12's with a few simple mods... wow that hurts the new M3 already, straight line speed e92 M3's are running HIGH HIGH 12's...12.9 is the best ive seen thus far and a few simple mods which will be VERY expensive are going to yield gains, but not to the degree the 335 will have, might as well buy an 335 and put M3 parts on it and have a faster car that looks the same, im sure many many people will start doing that shortly after the M3 bows its head

yeah the way it seems now i see no point really to get the m3 over the 335i unless you just want it bc it says and is an m3. i mean it is going to be what 70k maybe more if the stealers mark it up. you can just get a fully loaded 335 for around 45k put 10k into it and the thing will spank the new m3 and it would be a sleeper and you would have 20k left over to put down on a house to park your 335 in
i was all for getting the new m3 but now i am prob gonna get a 335i and make it a beast or get a second job and get an m6 lol

for the money, ill take that...this car was also on 91 octane. it weights 3150 lbs and u throw some gt3 seats in and youre under 3100 lbs and have a mid 12 second car for a good price, mid engined and fast in a straight line. bmw really messed this one up, granted this is modded vs non modded, but still, the cayman S, no matter how well the new m3 handles, is a better handling car. and also you mentioned the c63, i think from the looks of it now is going to be one hell of car. audi, while the rs4 looks good, its simply to me doesnt do the trick, it is WAY overpriced and WAY underperforming.

It's all a marketing ploy... the ///M division is just falling in with the rest of the brand (cheaper interior materials, 325 to 328 within same model designation after just one year..)
They've gone from selling great cars to just selling more cars.
Kinda sad really.

Just curious, why would any of you prefer an I6 over a V8??
I see no advantage at all.... and don't say M3's "should always have 6's"... remember they started with the S14 (4 banger).
I question many things in this car, but the motor is not one of them. I think it will be the gem of this car.
