EXHAUST

I was thinking Billy Boat Exhaust, but i think the best sounding is the Eisenmann by far. However dropping 5g's into a car i plan to keep for 2 years is not exactly economical. Does anyone have any sugguestions, Borla, BB, etc. Or does anyone know when AWE Tuning is making a 986 S exhaust?

I removed my muffler and can say without hesitation that the only thing louder would be to remove the cats. GHL, Borla, whatever are whisper quiet in comparison. (yes, I've been in 986's with those mufflers). Just hope you like teeth jarring resonance.

A couple months back, a bunch were being sold on eBay, SPRO, S-something or other. Very small canisters and very loud, I imagine. Craigslist LA and LA Dismantlers had a few used examples listed.

My 99 Boxster with straight pipes.

I left them on for a year and they where LOUD, I would not do that again, let me clarify I would not run straight pipes 100 % of the time.

My next set of mods is going to be a bypass with a adjustable valve, so I can run the muffler setup I have now or turn the **** and have straight pipes. The **** will be located inside the car as of now it will go where the wiper control would have. With this mod I will be able to run muffler or straight pipes and anywhere in between.

When this is done I will run a base line dyno, and then another dyno with the valve set to muffler. I will also run a series of dyno pulls at different valve openings and full straight pipes. It should be an interesting mod.

The main reason I want to do this is for the sound, I have had 4 different muffler setups on my car oem, straight pipes, a oem muffler with an always open bypass, and now a maxspeed muffler. The muffler with the bypass was by far the best sounding to me, but it was butt ugly.

I have not decided if I want to run the bypass prior to the cats or if I want to route the exhaust to the tailpipe or dump it under the car.

I have video clip of all of the mufflers except oem, at

Currenty I dont have a video of the car running with the turbo setup except on the dyno pulls. If you guys think I should make a video of the car not under load like I did on the other set ups I will.

Make it a great day.

This is the mod I did to my oem muffler, I liked this muffler better than any I have heard.

My mechanic did mine for about $200.

I guaranty you if you want a loud exhaust -- go Rinspeed part of their imola kit

That exhaust caused me hearing damage and I had to wear ear plugs just to drive to work

I just picked up a GHL but have yet to install it. I read somewhere online that if you wrap the cans with heat wrap (heard from DEI) that it significantly quells the drone. I plan on doing so and will post my findings.

I personally love the GHL sound but its the drone that may get to me.

oh man, please let me know if that helps or not. I would be willing to install my GHL style exhaust but....I'm not sure if I want the drone as well.
