We just finished our prototype intake for the Boxster S which was a fun project. The car was a 2001. The process was a little more crazy then I thought to get that factory box out, but we did it . Thanks Jeremy and Carl at IA and of course our techs at Vivid. In addition to the intake, we did the Softronic ECU flash. The intake made about 6 - 8RWHP through the midrange and about 5-6 ft/lbs or torque in the midrange. At redline the peak was very small, but that is not the driving gains you look for. Anyways the customer took the car back up north for a 200 mile drive and gave the car a great beating and loved the responsiveness of the Softronic and Intake package. In addition the intake really opened up the engine noise for a stronger tone.

Hey Dan, whats up bud... That's awesome, I'm glad you guys are working on a new intake for the 986. I have a question though, was that 6-8rwhp and 5-6ft/lbs increase with the intake alone? Or was that with intake And softronic flash?

And also, I saw that IA was using the EVO intake previously for their kits... Did you guys find that this prototype showed an improvement over the EVO?

This is good news, any new quality product helps out all 986 owners.

Thanks for adding a new intake to the market.

Are you guys working on any other products for the 986??

Were those gains from a combination of both the intake & ecu tuning?

I would hope that the numbers are for the intake alone. By itself, not really impressive numbers. I doubt you'd even be able to really notice the difference 8hp makes in real world driving.

Best results are probably achieved in conjunction with other mods - ecu, headers, exhaust, etc.

I call dibs on the first set if it replaces the current intake for the SC'ed set up!

Sorry I was out of town. That is the number with just the Intake gain. 5-6RWHP with gains of up to 8 in the midrange is good for a NA car. The Softronic we did load a file on the car. Throttle response and driveability was changed, numbers not showing it. We are reloading a new file on the car after the 1st to better dial it in. Then we should expect to see another 10hp.

Awesome, Dan, will you guys be testing gains on a base 2.7L 986?

Hey Dan, hmmm... well I'm out in San Diego, though I might be able to take you up on that offer in early to mid January if I head out there to AZ. I'll get in touch with you shortly and keep you posted.

Happy Holidays to you too!

Haha I just looked up the drive on Google maps, and you're pretty much nailed it dead on. From my place to yours is showing as a 350 mile drive, approx 5.5 hours. How is this drive Dan? Similar to a drive to Vegas? Decent road conditions?
