Cayman S resale.....

Well, i have to say that owning the Cayman S was probably one of the "cheapest" car experiences I have ever had. I bought my 06 S in January of 07, new. I just sold it last week for $6k less than I paid for it! (8500 miles) That works out to $500 a month! Granted I got a hell of a discount on the car when I first bought the thing, but I always thought you lost just as much when you first drive the car off the lot! Hell, I even profited on all of the accessories I pulled from the car....except the dash kit (took a little loss). I LOVE PORSCHE!!! (too bad i'm buying an S class in anticipation of my daughter mid-march)

Resale is strong on all Porsches. The trick is not to put too many options on them!!!!!

I hope you don't get used to that great resale if you're purchasing a brand new S Class.

VTACH - i was going saying the same thing. Mercedes gets hit HARD. I would look for the MANY available S classes out there. You can steal them.

TresX - in all seriousness its not a car that you have to SPEC out exactly to your liking unlike the Porsche. Look at less than 5K miles in the 07 S class and it will open your eyes from new to resale the loss it takes.

You can find MSRP 100K selling for 70K or less at times. with less than 3K miles on some of them.

Congrats on getting out of that so well. Something tells me that another year of Caymans getting dumped into the used market (lease returns, etc) will change that story a bit. I had looked around a bit for a used Cayman S recently and there wasn't much available. I am thinking there will be a lot more supply by the end of this year.

Funny I got the same value out of my Cayman S when I traded it in on a BMW. A 6K hit is not bad when you figure the sales tax wash and its associated savings.
