Replacement Center Wind Deflector

Did a quick search and didn't see anything on this. Took my 02 S out on Friday after its winter hibernation and whilst cruising about, I was distracted by the center wind deflector rattling. Turns out the little lever that locks in the deflector on the right side of the center deflector broke off.

I searched around a bit and all I could find is a OEM deflector for well north of $300. Anyone aware of any other options out there?

Thanks.

Save your money. If you still have the center plexiglass windstop, and the only thing that broke off was the plastic clip, just buy a replacement locking lever for $2.25. It is part number 10 on the link here: http://www.pelicanparts.com/PartsLoo...-01-Frame3.htm

My pleasure. With the crazy prices asked for these windstops, I figure it would save you a few bucks.

Same thing happened to me. The wind deflector had been rattling for some time. Thank goodness my wife rode with me once and actually noticed that the locking tab was broken. It's very easy to replace and cheap... I'm pretty sure there are photos and what-not at renntech.

Just FYI, there is another option to the OEM wind stop - www.windrestrictor.com. I've got one in the mail coming to me now, tinted with a custom design on it.

That looks interesting. Do you know if they sell those as a whole unit that includes the clips, latches, and rubber seal along the bottom/sides of the plexiglass, or if they expect you to remove those pieces from your existing windstop to transfer them onto their windstop? It's not made clear on their site.

I'm pretty sure that you need to supply your own Porsche parts. If you're like me though and already have a windstop, then it's not a big deal. You just buy the cheap parts or transfer them over. If you don't have a windstop installed, then you'll need to do some work to attach the appropriate hardware on the roll hoops. Again, I believe there's a write-up on that at Renntech. I hadn't really given it much thought, but I guess I'll just transfer my hardware over to the new Windrestrictor once it arrives.

Windrestrictor Review

I received my Windrestrictor today and as we suspected you do reuse the Porsche mounting hardware. In fact you just snap off the whole plastic surround that goes around the edge of the Porsche OEM windscreen and then snap it onto the Windrestrictor. It's a pretty easy job. I did it without tools and had it installed on my car in minutes. The quality is excellent, I really couldn't be happier and they did a great job of creating a custom design for me based on some digital photos that I sent them. My ***istant is just disappointed that I didn't get pictures of her stupid dogs etched on the windscreen.
