Will 19x8.5 +51 and 19x9.5 +45 wheels fit a 986 without rubbing?

I had these rims on my 987 S and an interested party with a 986 wants to know.

I recall getting these rims in these sizes because they were really conservative and I experienced absolutely no rubbing with 245/35 and 275/35 tires.... but I can't speak authoritatively for a 986, although I'm pretty sure they will with room to spare.

Thanks!

should be okay... but not all 245 and 275 tires will fit the 986 without rubbing

Thanks for the reply... what 986 tire sizes would you suggest to be 100% certain?

Also if anyone has had any specific experience with 245/275 tires, what 19" offsets/widths worked for you?

The tires that are currently on the rims are Toyo T1-R's

Sorry for bringing this thread back from the dead, but now that I've listed these rims for sale in a few places, I'm getting some questions on whether or not they will "definitely" fit a 986....

Has anyone tried a similar or more aggressive combo on a 986 without any problems?

Thanks in advance!

I don't think anyone will know for sure. The wheels may fit--the rear being very likely, the fronts possibly needing a 5mm spacer. The main problem is that 19" is not a very good size for the 986 which was originally designed for 16". Handling will likely suffer. The real problem is the tire diameters are different from the 986 to the 987 with the rears being a lot larger. A 275/35R19 is about 1-1/2" taller. I'm worried you're getting close to the spring perches. Also, a 245/35 (unless you mean 245/30) *IS* going to rub. A 235 just starts to rub, and your 245s are a full inch taller (not to mention wider). All in all, I would say it is a poor fitment with the tires being really questionable.
