The GT3 rea end is extremely noce with a 997 sideair inlets! I was upset since I could of have a more exotic rear end look with updated air-inlets but for now I will just deal with what I have for now. I want to buy the GT3 rear bumper from FVD, and instead of the Zein Wing from South Africa, I found the CSR Automotive - Porsche Breitbau 986/987 conversion Wide Body from Germany Body and GT2 wing set up. OMG! This was look just as exotic as my Lambo if properly down right. Like you said, once you are finisheAttachment 97423

Attachment 97424

Attachment 97425

Attachment 97426

Attachment 97427d with your set up, there will be all eyes on you, epsecially since its an covertible, my favorite option.

My front bumper is updates to the GT2 urethane bumper, silver hood and dash crest, deep dish blasck mesh rims with 4" rear rim dish, clear side markers and upgraded headlights and tail lights,a dn upgraded top with a glass window instead of the tradtional plastic.

Any suggestions on side air-inlets? The main thing I dislike about the car is the read end, Even though I have added nice side panels, front bumper and hopefully a GT3 rear winf and Bumper, my next challenge is to do some exotic to the side air-inlet with the factory side panles.. Any suggestions?

Otherwise, the rest of the car will look really nice and updated, ust not as exotic a the new 997 widebody conversion that looks ultimately the best in my opinion.

Exhaust pressure issues.
I started to get "putting" whenever I let off the gas while driving, more so the hotter the weathe and car gets. I took it toi Porsche and they just wanted to replace the Manifold and cats. They stated that they really do not know what side the noicse is coming from since its a center exhasut system and the noise can't be reduplicated while at idle and on the jack? My experience is that the headers/manifolds warp through time and either need to replaces or resurfaced. The cats, they need to be replaced for sure becuase I can hear movement inside when driving. The exhaust wa laready on the vcar when I bought it, its a Mile Miglia, sounds great.

My thoughts, replace the entire exhasut system with either a Dansk sport exhasut system since they are Factory exhasut usppliers or a SpeedArt system which I don't know much about, but both companies are higher qualty than the companies here in the US. I would like to add new sport system headers, cats and rear muffler. I have been recomdended to watch out with which manufactures to use and go with since many company use Chinese parts and mix them with german imprted parts, and becuae some manufacytores make large tubing which gives a deep sound but loss of torque which sucks becuase these parts are expebnsive and a headche to keep switching out.

BTW: Feel free to wtrite me directly at my personal email address. I can give it to you in your private inbox. Keep in touch and good luck with everything!

Hi Mohsen,
I think I may have the FVD rear bumper that you're looking for. It has the GT3 style side air ducts. Does it look similar to the rear bumper on my car?

did you ever do any more with this idea? i've been looking for something a little more dramatic that still work with the factory spoiler mechanism. kind of like the zeinwing but cooler.

Boxstdr 986 Rear-end conversion ideas

I have not did anything with my rear end yet. I think that if a fabricator can custom retro-fit a original TT wig to work with the factory sensored retractable rear wing would be one of the cleanest looks, still offering an exoticness to the rear of the plain Boxster 896's. Anything extra like a GT-3 rear bumper would just finish it off and would be the cheapest way to go except for the cost of a true TT wing, the TT mechanism (the TT mechanism is a heavier duty set up), and then the labor of the retrofit.

otherwise the ((^ rear end retrofit conversion would obviously look the most aggressive and coolest of all other conversion ideas, and one that would keep the cars value or increase it.

I will be posting the recent conversion of my car really soon. I just got it back, all done except for the rear bumper and rear wing setup, depending on what I decide to do. Keep in touch and I'll do the same.

Respectfully, MoMo

Porsche 986 Boxster Widebody Project

A few companies are developing 997 GT3 standard or wide-body front and rear bumpers. In addition, only one company is currently offering a custom 997 GT3 deck lid complete replacement with GT3 adjustable rear wing. Not a cheap kit but the cleanest of exotics I have seen so far. The rear 997 GT3 deck-lid and wing alone costs $3k+. The rear standard GT3 bumper is about $900+, the wide-body rear bumper is more, and then you have the side skirts of choice.

I am also waiting waiting for the final results of the 986/997 Gembala conversion myself. The orange is an awesome color of choice. White leather looks great with orange exterior but hard to maintain. Black with orange accents would be better for every day use.

I am investigating and researching about upgrading engines from a 2.7 to either a 996 3.4 or a 996 3.6/ I have heard of a few people upgrade to a 3.4 but not to a 3.6. I wonder how much a 3.4 or 3.6 engine goes for and how much labor and modifications are involved with such a project. I am sure that the end result is awesome.

I have also heard that the 996 sits lower in a 986 so it's not great for daily street use? Is that true? What about beefing up the suspension with maybe the PS9 system and then slightly raising the car?

Sorry... it's 98% finished, unfortunately I can't take it out on the road yet... so no photos till 100% done. I could take some more of it in the shop, but I don't think anyone wants to see photos in the shop anymore. It needs to be smogged etc.. from the DMV... So gotta finish it 100% first, so I can register it and drive on the road (for photos).

I've got quite a few things going on... so it's taking a while to build & finish. This isn't a quicky, easily build car... to get it ready for paint took over 330 hours. And I had to squeeze in other work around this project. ;o) Also, just got back from a nice vacation last week & couldn't log myself onto this website for the week before I left on vacation (banned?) (weird)...
The car should be finished soon. Sorry for the delay. ;o)

I tried to put a HD version of that video on Utube, but it wouldn't take it... and kicked off my first video in the process. Nice. I'll try uploading again... and see if it works.
