what rpm do you guys normally switch? I take my car to 2k rpm pretty much every gear.
Am I driving my porsche boxster S wrong? I only owned it for 1 month now.
I accelerate only once in a while on the highway, if I am with somebody, demonstrating what the car is capable of doing.

For the first 2K miles I shifted around 3 to 4K RPM. No cruise control and varied speed often. Used full throttle up to 4K once and while. At about 1200 miles went to 5K only a few times.
At 2K miles started shifting at 6500 to red line when in a hurry. Every day driving now, I shift around 4 to 5K and rarely use full throttle.
With 3500 miles it is surprisingly strong.

Opps sorry. I thought this might happen.
Its a used 2006 Boxster S with 11k miles.
So it's not like im breaking it in or anything. I think i just drive slow and try to save gas...
It's a one year lease. and I wonder if I am going to regret not driving it hard when I return the car...
I think I should drive it stronger like take harder turns, heel and toe, engine breaking and all the good stuff. I think I am driving the car at 1/10th of capability right now.

You're missing out on a lot of fun if you're shifting at 2K - the powerband really starts at 3500 with maximum torque between 4200 and 6000 (just looked it up on one review site). With 11K on your car you should get out on some twisty roads and really enjoy it as it was designed - try taking it up close to the rev limiter in second and third and you'll appreciate all the engineering that went into the car and if you're going through some twisties you'll appreciate the mid engine balance and terrific suspension.

Drive it like you stole it! Seriously these cars were built to be driven hard, take it out and stretch the legs on it, but only after it has wamed up . Never over 4k rpms until it has reached normal operating temp.
Enjoy!
Enjoy!
Yes. Lugging a Porsche around below 2K rpms may actually cause damage to your engine. It's the wrong car for hypermiling.
Here is my rule of thumb:
Easy city driving and warm up 2-4k rpm
Spirited mountain roads 3-5k rpm
Track days 4-6k rpm (rarely to rev limit).
Your mileage may vary.

I usually try to keep it ABOVE 2K RPMs. Lugging a Porsche engine is false economy. Once warmed up, I take mine to red line often. The fun doesn't start until 4500+ RPM. If you drive your Porsche like a granny to save wear-and-tear/mileage, you bought the wrong car.
I agree with most of the above - but would say the other great thing about the Boxster is that it is very easy to live with: you can drive it quite easy and it will still pull strong for you.
But running it up to redline is quite a bit more fun
