(987) Boxster S vs. Cayman S
As you can see in my sig though Bob, I currently have to sell my baby in order for me to get a Boxster or a Cayman. So until that day, only looking and gathering information/background. Good luck with the sale though!Greg
p.s. Still waiting for xXxGhotimanxXx to post pics of the hardtop

Thanks for doing that. I tried doing a google search for images and found multiple different hardtops. Most I didnt care for the look of. Can't wait to see the images!
Head of Nail... Meet Hammer.
Hi Psyher -
Isn't there a law that if you're in central California and need a weekend car for nice drives with your wife it would have to be a convertible?
Imagine a weekend trip in Napa or a driving holiday through the Sequoia National Forest - you'll need to drop the top to really appreciate all the scenery.
Of course I'm completely biased towards convertibles so we'll need to balance this unobjective opinion with one from a solid top fan.

Hard-top or soft-top, how much looking up and around do you do while driving. I don't know about you, but I'm focused on driving. Now, my passenger on the other hand, is free to enjoy all the sights and sounds and would benifit more in a cab. That being said, if the passenger wants to make the payments and have her name on the title, then by all means, I'll get a cab. Since I'm making the payments, my name is on the title, I'm the one that's driving, and I can't look everywhere I want...most of my looking is when the car is parked...it's coupe for me.
On a more serious note, a friend of mine traded his cab. for a coupe because the coupe has more room in the back seats for his children. There is slightly less room in the cab. due to the shape of the rear and due to the space needed to house the top. Personally, I don't care for the lines of the cab. There is a bit more of a hump back there.

When I was searching I had the same debate.
I've always loved coupes and have never owned a soft top. I still do think the Cayman is a beautiful car and I own an aircooled 911 hardtop (I hate the look of the cabs!)... but...
I came across the perfect Boxster S for me. It was optioned exactly how I wanted with the exact wheels I wanted. It couldn't have been more perfect. It was CPO with perfectly low miles for the perfect price. I just couldn't pass it up!
I almost never drive with the top up. It's just an experience to drive an open-air Porsche.
That said... I even want to get a Boxsterspec 986 for the track.. I'm not a professional race car driver; I just don't need a hard top!

I find it interesting that today most people feel the "pure" version of the Porsche sports car is the coupe...when a few decades ago a car wasn't considered a sports car unless it was open top. Think Porsche 550 etc. and most Targa F. racers.

And I am still waiting on pictures
No problem. I've got the EVOMSit software in my car with the RS350 kit (dyno's at over 350 HP). The car as quick as a 911S now, and the throttle response is perfect.
Is this the hardtop you were talking about J?

It looks good, but does anyone have one? Easy to use/install/remove? Any information would be very helpful.
Thanks!
