2003 boxter radio problem

Hi All,
I have a 2003 Boxter that has the Bose HIFI upgrade. today the stereo has stopped working. the display looks like it is working but there is no sound.
There is a red light on the fibre optic if i pull it out of the amp under the bonnet. how can i check if the amp has gone.

ANY IDEAS ANYONE?

Regards
Chris

I had this happen more than once and the dealer replaced the head unit once and the amp twice. I never got the problem after the amp was swapped the second time but got plenty of other oddities. The MOST bus system on the 03-04 Bose system was the glitch. The HiFi system is different than the Bose system and had a lot fewer problems and none that I know of like you will experience with the Bose system. I would start with the amp or just get a dealer to fix it. Probably easier.
