I have a 986S and planning to buy a body kit. Any advices ? What bad surprises will I have to deal with ?

You better have an extremely qualified and skilled person lined up to install and paint the kit. Also, regardless of cost or prestige that may be associated with any given brand, be prepared to deal with all kinds of fit and finish issues with these aero parts. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

So far, one of the challenge is to find the "dream" kit and then, I guess it will be to find that skilled person. I'm new to mods and this is a bit overwhelming...

Did you ever look at the "Better Bodies" ? at:

I think my choice is set to the 996 EVO GTR yet, but I'm leaving room for other kits I may find. Lots of crap when "google ing" 986 body kits...

I have no first hand experience with Better Bodies other than to say, it appears as though they "knock off" the Caractere style GT3 bumper. That isn't necessarily bad a thing, however, like everything else, its the "monkey behind the wrench" as it relates to who is actually making these kits. The materials, molds ect... are all vital to the overall quality of these parts. In my experience, even a brand as well respected as Hamann had its challenges when it came to fit and finish issues.

I can comment on Better Bodies and that front bumper... had it on my 99 996. Very good fitment and quality. The only issue I had was it being fiberglass which meant rock chips were pretty common. If I did it again I would use some paint protection film. It is a copy of the Caractere bumper by the way...
