Thoughts on painting center console other than black exterior color?

I am thinking of painting the center console and some of the other cheap plastic interior bits. I am trying to decide if I want to just paint them the exterior color of black or possibly add some pop and color to the interior. Anyone seen a center console painted a non-exterior color? Not the alumalook or carbon. For example, I have a black car, and was wondering if white or even red could look good if you had some subtle other accents to match, i.e. white stitching or red stitching or something.

i have seen a few painted red on black cars and they had red seat belts

- don't really see much of the outside from the inside anyway. just tie it into some other aspects of the car's interior.

get Eric the plug guy to paint so at least it looks OEM.

I assume your interior is black as well. You might be best with the carbon fiber. I've got a black interior with white accents (rear center console, door handle surrounds and the steering wheel "Y" piece going from 9-3-6 o'clock). The look of the white with all the black is outstanding BUT my car is white, the gauges are white and the roll hoops are white so it all ties in nicely. To have all solid black and then just a few pieces in white or red Might look odd. If the belts and gauges were red and perhaps red stitching than I might say go for it but not if everythings black.

How much would it cost to paint the interior?

You can get your seats restitched for $700-900. in a color and then paint the trim items to match.

Not a big fan of the painted interior parts. However, carbon fiber looks good.

Painted interior parts

Well, this is all very subjective and strictly a matter of personal taste. I encourage you to go with what you want and, remember, even though there is some labor involved, painting plastic parts is relatively inexpensive.

Personally, I like to go with a cohesive theme. For instance, our 997.2 CS is a Carrara White exterior with black interior, contrasting white stithcing throughout, white seat backs and bottoms for the adaptive sport seats, and white console. I think it is stunning and, apparently, so do others based on many comments.

Howevever, I've seen a number of other Pcars with white/gray/black exteriors with black interiors and red seat belts, gauges, consoles, stitching, etc. and they look fabulous too.

When all is said and done your car is your work of art and should be what pleases you! Just my $.02.

I am interested in having the seats restitched. How is this done. Do you have the leather taken off and sent somewhere or where they done at a local shop.
Do they look as professional as the factory stitching. Thanks in advance for any info. I have the red belts and should have ordered red stitching but didn't.

You should be able to look up a local auto interior/upholster shop to redo the leather and stitching. Try local yellow pages or one of your favorite search engines. It probably won't be cheap, since it's a fairly labor involved R&R procedure. When it's done though, you'll have something that's very unique.
I'm saving up to have the seat center inserts redone in alcantara + yellow stitching. If figured it can't be that much more expensive to do both at once.

I've seen black 997 with red painted console, red stitching seats, red stitching floor mats, red seat belts and red roll cage. This combo look fantastic! Restitching will be quite alot of money especially when you try with the dash.

If you looking for red stitching GT3 seats, we have a pair here available instock. Price may even less than re-stitching your own seats!

I have a white console along with white gauges, white trim (cupholder panel cover, etc) on my 2008 Boxster S. I'd like to do the trim panel on the radio and climate control as well eventually. 2-tone Grey/Black interior as well.

Colors

I would recommend either doing the white w/ a few other accent pieces like the door corner trims for example. Red is also a great color to go w/ black for a race inspired look. Or lastly yellow against black, which is pretty hot if you get the seat belts the same color and like the white just a couple of minor pieces will do the trick.

Just a few pieces is all it takes to create theme, I recommend the door corner trims, ignition surround, center console and would do the seat belt if you wind up going with red or yellow.
