Besides that just make sure all the services are up to date including brake flushes. Also take a peak at the brakes, look for heat spots/cracks. Good indication of any track time with the car

Planet-9 started out as caymanclub.net - here's a link to the faq pages -- you'll want the bottom 2 under 'questions and answers':

2 biggies if you're using the cayman for a track car -- an oil pickup issue in the engine under extremes of cornering on R-compound tires and power steering cooling issues.

There are kits available to fix the oiling issue but I'm not up-to-date on them.

The Cayman is a wonderful car to drive, on-track or off. I have an '06 cayman S which I'm keeping 4ever. PM me if I can help.

I didn't mean that these were very common issues the car has. I was just shooting some ideas out of what things to be looking at when checking out a car. I in no way ment that these were issues with every Cayman out there. Sorry for the scare

If you are worried about previous track time on the car see if you can a signed statement on it's previous life. I asked for that once and never heard from the guy again. I'm pre3tty sure I didn't want that car.

As has been stated there are things you can do to improve the car. It's a matter of choice.

Enjoy the car.

Enjoy the car! Let me tell you, I regret selling my 06. The Cayman is a total blast to drive.

the oil starvation issue and power steering failure are actually real potential problems if you track the car... but then again, all cars pushed hard will have problems. i bought one recently and absolutely love the car. congrats!

We used one for a DE event a couple of years ago, lots of hot laps...wore out the front tires in 3 days, and overheated the clutch cylinder, pedal stuck to the floor. Technician pulled it off the floor, let it cool off, good as new except for the tires. A blast on the track.
