Bilstein PSS9's installed on Porsche Boxster by G Rides

The owner of this Porsche Boxster asked what we recommended for it. Both the owner and I didn't like the stance of the car as it was low in the back as seen in this picture before we started working on it.

This Porsche had Eibach lowering springs, normally the Eibachs work well, providing a good stance and ride, however with this Boxster the ride was good but the stance wasn't to our liking. So on to installing Bilstein PSS9's.

We use a "StrutTamer" to compress the spring safely, allowing us to disassemble the strut & spring, this is a great tool.

The OEM components which are transferred over to the Bilstein's are cleaned and re-greased where needed, such as the upper bearing.

The PSS9's have a clicker on the bottom of the shock body which allow for adjustment of compression and rebound damping.

We also take the time to fix stuff like this wire which was held in with a zip tie when it should have a grommet. The grommet we installed is not Porsche OEM but it's a little better than a zip tie.

After the ride height was adjusted, the car was tested, a few miles were put on to settle it in, we re-inspected the suspension and it was time for an alignment. We have our alignments done on a Beissbarth 4-Wheel Laser Alignment. Sorry I got the pictures after alignment was done, but this is a great machine and the tech that does the work is very careful, thorough, knowledgeable and just does a great job.

All detailed and ready for the customer with a new stance, the rear ride height is almost 1" higher now with Bilsteins than with Eibachs, front is about the same now with Bilsteins as with Eibachs. These Bilstein PSS9's set to the softest damping settings ride great and are comfortable on the street. Looking forward to setting it up for a day at the track.

Also wanted to mention that the Bilsteins saved some weight. Stock Front Strut and Spring Assembly weighed 14.5 lbs, Bilstein was 11.5 lbs. Rear Stock, 17 lbs, Bilstein 14 lbs.

Nice work. Had the same PSS9's on my 01 Boxster right before I sold it. Thinking of slapping a set on the C4S too.

Thank you, we order Bilsteins through Damon@TireRack, who provides customer service, inventory and prices which are all excellent. If you're looking for a set of Bilsteins, I'd say give Damon a call, if you need a good place to have them installed, I'd say give G Rides a call.

Awesome look. Did you get corner weights on the car at the same time?
