Couple Questions from a noobie.

1.Caymans that have Bi-Xenon headlamps also have the halogen lights turn on when on Highbeam...Why? My 328xi doesn't do this.

2. Are the 'foglights' only DRL's? I thought they were fog lights also because when you turn and pull out the fog light thing turns on inside the car.

3. I had a friend who worked on Caymans and he said something about engines blowing up.

4. BMW M3(Again) or Cayman S? I don't need practicality. I want long term reliability, efficient, comfortable, and an all season car. Will the Cayman kill me in potholes? My 328 with runflats already feels like the car is going to break every time I hit the smallest pothole.

5. I test drove the Cayman S today(again) and I keep falling in love with this thing. It's such a precise machine, it doesn't lose grip. Does this car oversteer or understeer more?

6. C&D says the Cayman S gets to 0-60 in 4.3 seconds. True?

7.If I get SC Plus, do I also get the sport button AND a Sport Plus button?

8. Does PASM make a HUGE difference? I don't plan on getting 19's.

9. My current 328i's AC is absolutely horrible. I'll be sweating even with the AC on full blast and at it's lowest temp. Is the Caymans any better?

Thanks for all your help in advance!

On #3, some owners of 2006-2008 Caymans who tracked their cars have had engine failures. It reportedly is caused by oil starvation during hard left-hand turns, especially with sticky tires. The TTP Oil Safe system is supposed to prevent this from happening, but it's expensive. Porsche corrected this by 2009, without admitting there was a problem with the early cars.

M3's are great cars - I go canyon carving with some M3 owners and they seem on par with the Cayman S performance-wise, but IMO the looks aren't even close.

Cheers,
