Looking at a low Mileage Y2K BoxsterS

This car will be in addition to my turbo and will be a 4Th car. Mainly to scratch a convertible itch

The car is an S and has seat heaters which were on my short list of required options. It has about 37k Miles.

Anything I should look for that may be model specific? I trust the seller and don't feel like he would sell me the car that has any real known issues.

Any feedback will be appreciated since I am new to this model.

I assume you know about the IMS bearing issues. With that mileage it would be nice to get underneath the car to inspect it & remove the oil filter & cut it open & inspect for metal etc.

Just starting my homework. If IMS passes the test, what's the chance it can still develop problems? and if it does how much is the fix?

After some searching it seems the IMS fix is about a $1500 preventative fix?

The only way to check IMS bearing is to remove trans then remove IMS flange & wiggle the IMS bearing shaft to check for play & spin it to test bearing. At this point it takes a couple more hours labor to have the LN IMS bearing installed + the cost of the bearing (aprox. $600.) IMS bearing will develop problems later, maybe at 200,000 miles, probably much sooner. That's why I suggested cutting open the oil filter, it's the easyest way to check for excessive engine wear without alot of expense.
