2012 CaymanR 2000 miles in.....

I just keep wondering if the car can get any better and then it does.
I took a neighbor out in the hills and we were both laughing out loud at the SILLY levels of grip that the car could achieve .
The engine is getting loosened up and the car just runs beautifully.
I keep saying out loud to myself while driving it through the curves "this car is so spot on".
Porsche did an amazing job of hitting all the hard points correctly. The steering, the suspension, the level of power to chassis, all home runs! It really needs a set of Stainless braided flex lines though(ordered, should be in today)
I also love the fact that I have yet to see another one on the road. Does anyone know how many Porsche plans to produce?
I ordered a set of 19" Hossier R6's yesterday. That should REALLY make me laugh
My first HPDE in the car is in about 6 weeks at Infineon.

Posts like this reaffirm my love for the Cayman platform.

I've said the Cayman S is my favorite Porsche (barring super high-end). It just feels right.

I have not driven an 'R', but all indicators point to the exact direction you've described, and I find myself considering one again. The 'S' just felt perfect in almost every way. I can only imagine the 'R' is that much more perfect.

Thanks for the review! You've got to post after your HPDE.

Top Gear ran a Cayman through their track and it just looked so nimble. It had tons of grip. It reminded me of the F430 scud in a weird way.

It wasn't even an R. I believe it was an S. I can't even imagine what an R looks like when taking a high speed turn, let alone the feel.

Congrats on your awesome toy.

I just picked mine up yesterday...Absolutley Amazing!!! Put 50 miles on it last night...I was smiling ear to ear... Why did i wait so long.. ( oh yeah i know, the wife! but she's cool with it now) Thank god for early 40th birthday presents to one's self!
white with pdk and sports exhaust.. big thumbs up on the sports exhaust.. since im in florida there's not to many twisty roads down here but i'll find them.
I have a Daytona track day scheduled after breakin... enjoy, the car is sick..
I feel sorry for my ALPINA B7 (although this car is sick as well), she's gonna get neglected... My only question is, how do i fit my sons hockey gear in the trunk? oh well.. enjoy

Congrats on the Cayman R. I really like that car and when it's time to move on from my GT3, I think I will move into the Cayman with whatever derivative is interesting at the time. The car is really balanced and has a good feel to it. I think it's one of the best looking Porsche products going.

Enjoy!

GT2RS Hood Emblem

In keeping with the whole lightweigh thene here I just removed the stock hood emblem and installed a stick on GT2RS badge. $40 for a sticker but well woth the fun factor. A bit more aero too

What's in a name?

I removed my "914" striping and ordered a set of the silver Stick on CaymanR emblems like the ones on the thresholds of the car. $70 each, but what the hell. I'll mount them at the forward lower edges of each door as on the GT2RS and GTS'.
