Went out with Suncoast PCA this past weekend (9/17-18) @ Sebring. It is the 2nd event on this track for me. I was there a month earlier with another club just trying to learn a new track. Seat time definitely helps as it builds confidence and helps you push a little more. By last session on the 1st day, I was pushing the car pretty well - running ~2:40/lap with relative consistency. It's OK considering I'm on street tires (Hankook Ventus V12) with factory pads (too lazy to bother ). Of course, I wanted to drive my car home, so I made sure I'm not *****-out on the runs - shifting between 6200 - 6500 rpm.

Anyways, here is the fun part - a 2-lap clip from day one, when a number of instructors came out with the yellow group. Camera is a ContourHD ($137 from amazon) and it's mounted on a ball head attached to an alum bar clamped across the roll bar. Enjoy!

Porsche NA was there with 2 Cayman R's offering hot laps tours. The car, combined with drivers, really made short lap time around the track. Great ride! I now want sport bucket seats and PDK.

Matt, yeah took a ride in the blue Cayman R. Def bucket seat and PDK are must have options for my next car! btw, you were asking about camera mount in the boxster before. If you're interested, I'll snap a picture or two of my (simple) rig. Let me know.

 

Oh that's right! I just ended up putting a mount on the side of my helmet, it captures my hands well and does a good job showing me where I look into turns etc. Are you going in November? If so, I'll have to try to come say hey. Did you happen to have a color matched bra on the car? If so, I think you drove right by me down the narrow one-way road that runs right next to the pits on the infield side. I was in a light green boxster.

 

 

Fun fast track, I was there the weekend prior for the Kids Race for Life Event with PBOC. Its a lot smoother running a stock suspension.

 

@Matt, I was in the other yellow boxster, with black wheels. Won't make Nov unfortunately. I'll be out of town. Hopefully will get to go back over the Florida winter.
