Cayman Driving Impresions

So today my 997.1 Turbo went in to service at Rodger Jobs Porsche. A simple repair of misaligned rear parking sensor that was being done at no charge with my CPO warranty. Rodger Jobs hands out their very new Cayman S as a loner which is a nice touch when dreading a repair.

My impressions for the first 10 mile jaunt; I love the seat bolstering but at 6'1'' I found it very difficult getting in a comfortable driving position. You can tell where the engine is on your first corner. Damn, I wish my stock TT's exhaust could sound like this thing.

I'm 6'0" (with long legs) and find that I have enough space in the Cayman, but I have manual transmission, which makes me want to sit a little farther forward for best control of the clutch and stick.

With a tiptronic or PDK, I'd probably want to sit farther back, so the limited space could be an issue.

As far as the sound, I love the sound of our Cayman R, and prefer it to the Cayman S. Nothing sounds better when you get a downshift just right.

First Sports Car

Hi Everyone. Purchased my first Porsche today. A 2008 Cayman S with just 17,000 miles on it and in exceptional condition. Its Basalt Black with Sand Beige interior. Not a scratch on it and the interior looks brand new. Never owned a sports car before and absolutely love the way it handles. At 5' 8" I find the seating very pleasant. Looking forward to many years of happiness in my Cayman S.

It too was a manual transmission vehicle. I heard the seat pop forward in anger from adjusting the side lever too much while the seat was fully back. By no means was I knocking the vehicle, just found that I personally could not find a perfectly comfortable position to drive in. On clutch disengagement I often found my knee hitting the base of the wheel which I found odd for a semi-flat based wheel. And before you ask, yes I did move it around. All 6' ers do not have the same body type obviously.

I wish I was able to take it out for more than just two days to explore what she can do. Congratulations *cremaley* on your purchase. I'm sure everyone here would love to see a photo or two of your new Porsche.

Happy Driving, even in the rain.

It's unfortunate that the car didn't fit you. The 911 certainly has more space, and I hear that the new Cayman will have more space as well.

The Cayman is a great car... but every Porsche offers something just a little different for each of its drivers... The driver just needs to figure out what it is that he wants/needs... I read much about perception with different models, and then there's the cost of each model that's suppossed to separate the drivers... Its funny but sadly true, $$$ doesnt make you a better driver, it just sometimes allows you to be arrogant and ignorant... again with my experince, Ive never driven a Porsche that i wouldnt take home and make my girlfriend for some time....

The Cayman is a badass little car! A perfect track day toy... ALL porsches should be on a track at least one day out of its precious little life...
Sadly my bro is 6'2, and has long legs, he doesnt fit in my car... His knees are bent under the wheel, so we are discussing the C2 for him....

Here she is. Not a scratch on her and the interior looks like it just came off the showroom floor. Only 17,800 miles driven. Hat's off to the previous owner for taking such good care of MY Cayman S. This is my first Porsche and I am stoked.
