Please make it go away!!!

So I have a 2011 Spyder with 4000 miles. I just drove from DC to SC today and I could not make this squeaky rattle go away. It is coming from the plastic caps that the wind deflector base notch slides into. It is the squarish cover that goes over the pillar right behind the doors. It sounds like styrofoam rubbing together. If I put a lot of weight on the piece it usually stops but it's kind of hard to drive like that. The car is going in for the first oil/filter change and a whole list of other things: car won't always start even with the clutch pedal pressed all the way down to the floor. It doesn't seem to engage the sensor and allow the car to start(random), the taillights keep sliding down from the nice flush position they were in when new, and a constant chirping sound when I engage the sport exhaust. Anyone having these issues or have suggestions?

For the squeky noise caused by the rubber, just apply some lubricant oil to the rubber very so often and that should do the trick. The other issues are warranty related and should be fixed by dealer.

I wish it were that simple. The trim piece is what is causing the noise. It is occurring under the piece where it is attached. I cant get under it to lube it and I am afraid to pull the piece off as I am not sure how it is affixed. I am pretty sure the combination of forces the top places upon it and the fact that it is plastic on plastic rubbing together are causing the noise. It isn't as bad when I remove the wind deflector and use only the Bimini top. Maybe the dealership has the fix. This is my first Porsche visit. I was a Mercedes guy before this.

I had an annoying rattle with my top as well. Mine was due to one of the metal studs that the top snaps onto getting loose. The dealer replaced the part and the noise went away.

If you are talking about the glass wind deflector, I'm no help. Mine was in the garage for as long as I owned the car.

All issues fixed. It took a little felt tape to quiet the rattle, a clutch sensor fixed the non start. But, they told me that I have extreme wear on the rear tires. I have 5000 miles and I'm down to the wear marks. The tires are also "feathering." The service techs felt the wear could be from over inflation(I keep them at 31-33psi), but couldn't explain the feathering. I expected more than 5000 miles out of these tires. Has anyone else had these issues?

Jay,

Back in the day if you took Factory delivery and drove it hard like that, the Factory guys would give you a pat on the shoulder and "Good boy!" along with it when you brought it back for service.

The only "problem" with your tire wear is that the driver is using one of these things in a Ferry Porsche approved manner.

Keep enjoying. Budget more for tires.

Could not say it better myself Mr Rice!

Having said that, I have heard of some cars being moved out of the usual delivery stream for one reason or another an arriving at the dealer when new and the alignment knocked out by being tied down in transit in a non Porsche approved way, but that was years ago when delivery between the factory and dealers was a little more haphazard!
