Crocodile is infamous around these parts
Ecu

Hello, I have never modified any of my vehicles so forgive my ignorance with my question:

Can I modify my 2007 2.7L Cayman via ECU only and nothing else? What can I expect. Has anyone done this and would care to share their experiences?

Thanks

Yes you can, check out this site http://www.softronic.us/buynow.php . Having said that, it would give you more benefit a lot more if with the dme tune you also went with a cold air intake system and better exhaust.

Yes, there are "Stage 1" tunes available for bone stock cars than don't require any type of aftermarket hardware modification. You can make power out of a non-force induction motor, but the gains arn't as spectacular as a turbo or supercharged application. You may see a 5-10 horsepower increase. That being said, an aftermarket intake and an aftermarket exhaust will add power.

You can but you are limited. My opinion is that if you're going to to modifications to your engine/tuning you should get air in, then get air out then tune. You're expense is half or over half way there if you're going to update your ECU. You can change your intake and exhaust relatively cheaply then tune and you may see double the results afterwards.

not much of a difference in NA cars for air in/ air out (as you mentioned) mods.

The stock ECU is fairly well tuned. Not usually much to be gained unless you are making other mod's that significantly increase airflow.

this is not true at all... Installed softronic tune on a customers Cay S and the changes were significant.

Followed that up 2 weeks later with a fabpseed Race exhaust and even more improvement, plus the benefit of weight reduction.
