Get both..and a thought

Orange, agree get both, the PASM will not be mushy on the road and you will not regret it. Chorno is a must for PDK, but I also think it's a nice add to mahal, as it enhances the throttle response, etc. Enough on that subject here already on the boards.

If you are looking to trim some cost, I would NOT get the factory sport exhaust. I drove a Spyder with it, and it was nice, but was not loud enough for me. Now loud enough for me might be too loud for so someone else in a roadster;and keep in mind, I drive a GT3rs with a sharkwerks bypass, so I love to hear the exhaust. So that's an option I am not getting, because I will likely add a Tubi exhaust aftermarket and it also allows me to defer some cost for a few months after getting the carl. Yu can always add an exhaust, even factory, once you hear the diff OEM and aftermarket ones a few months from now. You can never go to the dealer and say hey add chrono and pasm to my car. Just my two cents.

You were probably right that standard suspension would suit your needs, but the high riding car would probably drive you nuts. Then you'd have to open a can of worms called the 'aftermarket' and find yourself chasing your tail. Again, lessons learned the hard way myself...

I know for many of you buying a new Porsche is like me buying a used Corvette but for me, $80K is a lot of money to pay for a car as a daily driver. Having said that, other than taking the car to a couple of DE events, it's going to be my daily driver.

I'd consider myself an aggressive driver, I love the track, taking exit ramps and hauling *** through mountain roads. Since I won't be doing but a couple of DE events, do you think it's a waste to get PASM.

I wasn't going to order it and based on many of you guys that have P experience, I changed my mind.

This is what I understand. PASM in the sport mode is too harsh to drive on the street. PASM in the normal mode is even mushier than the exact same car that doesn't have PASM on it at all. Is that correct?

If so, perhaps I should not even get PASM.

I'm not flaky and it's not a big deal but it's one of those options I don't want to go back later and wish I had.

I'm going to call my sales guy and see if he has one with PASM that I can drive. Perhaps some first hand experience will make my choice more clear.

Thanks,

Mark

TD,

Very good point about the exhaust. I listened to (I think it was a 911) at the dealership with the cutouts. (I apologize, I looked at so many P cars, I forgot which one had the cut-outs)

Point is, it sounded great. I understand that’s not the same engine as the boxster engine but I’m hoping the difference between loudness’s is something that can be differentiated between. (hate like hell to get it and you could hardly tell the difference)

I’m going to the dealer today, I’ll check some out.

Another option is to wait until the cars hit the dealerships, then try out the different variations on options to see what you like best. You might even find one at the dealer that you like as-is, which would save some time compared to ordering one.

That’s what I did when I bought my JCW. I was too impatient to wait so I took one off the showroom.

Since there are none at the dealerships, it’s going to take the same amount of time either way so I may as well order.

I have not seen a 981 in person but the 987 sure looks like a 4X4 in regards to the wheel gap. IMO stock wheel gap looks like someone took a sports car and put a lift kit on it.

I had a 2007 Cayman S and used it only as a DD and my first mod was a set of coilovers and after a 2" lowering, realignment and connerbalance the Cayman S looked much better and handled much better than it did stock.

If I was going to get PASM on a new 981 I would consider that if you want to lower the 981 at a later date to reduce wheel gap the availability of aftermarket PASM coilovers is limmited and more costly and may not even be ready for the market if the 981 has any changes that will not let 987 coilover fit. BTW I have Swift springs on my current set of coilovers and the Swift springs are excellent.

You made the right decision by going w/ PASM and SC... my '07 CS (bought used) has PASM, but I wish it had SC for the quicker throttle response... (I'm thinking about Sprint Booster)..

Come to cars and coffee near the NC music factory (fmornings of 1st Sat of each month)... I've got the lapis blue CS w/ the big wing.. (John T)

John,

Absolutely... I like C&C once in a while. There isn’t really any pretentiousness there, just cool cars.

(when did it move to NC MF?) What happened to Northlake mall?

Thanks for for the reassurance on the PASM and SC? It wasn’t a money issue, another 3-4K on top of what I had wasn’t going to change anything but more importantly, I didn’t want to buy something I’d regret later.

Thanks,

Mark

I've got quite a few that says yes but about as many saying no. Knowing myself, I probably won't mind the ride but I don't want to miss the boat by not getting it installed.

Thanks for your time,

Mark

EDIT: I just got off the phone with my sales rep. He said if it were him, he would get the chrono package before he got the PASM. He was one of the people that got to go to AL and flog them on the track. He said in previous years, the chrono wasn't as good as it is this year and without a doubt in his mind, he'd go chrono before pasm.
Chrono adds adjustable transmission mounts (new this year)
