VIR full Boxster Spyder

Did a private track day yesterday at VIR , full config...

Boxster spyder was excellent... Had a few hairy moments but it was just me being over zealous... Normally I handle myself decent but here there were mostly Gtr's (Gtr nagtroc forged event).. A Lamborghini or 2, a gt3 rs 4.0, etc etc... there were a couple slower cars like a scion frs

Car was great through everything, pagid yellows did great, advans got greasy about 25 min in (did 30 min sessions, more than normal)... No other issues, car ran strong!! And drove me home 5 hours

I'll post pics later I have of me an a cayman R, till then

Nice group of cars you ran with... looks like a great run... nice lines, turn 1 can be a ***** for some reason. You were doing well, unfortunately on the back straight away, the GTR ran the fudge awaaaay... LOL, damn, that is a fast car.

I don't like the advans, I know they lasted 25 minutes on a 30 minute session but they always seem greasy to me. I'm glad to hear the pagid's worked well.

Since I don't have a high HP car, I like it when they open up the patriot course, it's a great equalizer.

On a side note, I love VIR but unfortunately I hit the wall in the esses right before the lodge on the left. I had run 2 track days with Track Daze and on the third day, the Miata group was renting the track.

I had signed up for them also figuring I was already at VIR. (bad idea... 2 days is ENOUGH!!...lol)

Though I was running in the black group with Track Daze, the Miata group didn't know me so they assigned an instructor to do a sign off lap with me. I went out, made a warm up lap and took off. With his extra weight in the car, it sprung the suspension coming off the gator and I ended up turning the car sideways sliding into the wall at 120. (it may have been slower than that, I was doing 120 when I left the concrete, once you hit the wet grass, it seems like it propels you into warp speed)

Needless to say, I totaled the car. (tis okay, I own a body shop and bought it back...lol)

Anyway, great video, nice lines, hope to see you out there sometimes if mine ever comes in...lol.

Mark,

Are you the same "orangecrush" from Elcova? If so, I use the same name over there as I do here. Nice to see a familiar name.

Yup, sure am.... Good to see a familiar name also. So what are you driving that you’re on here? I just ordered my first Porsche so here I am.

My cars are in my signature. Here are a few pictures. Congrats on your first Porsche! It was the best/worst car decision I've ever made. I love it so much, I can't get rid of the darn thing.

Sorry for highjacking the thread. The Spyder looks great. How did it run against the Cayman R?

OMG, that is gorgeous... I so wanted a Cayman but I have to have a convertible.

The older Boxster’s didn’t do it for me but when I saw the 2013 Boxster S, I knew that I found the Porsche I wanted.

My apologies also, didn’t mean to hijack the thread.

Back to the VIR Boxster Spyder discussion....

You're not kidding. Shahul was looking fast until that GT-R passed him at what looked like 300 mph!

His lines were smooth and he was quick but when the damn GTR came by, it almost sucked the paint off the Spyder.

Great run still though...

Great run! I've never been to VIR (but 6 other tracks in NE and South)... but looks like a track for very power and high speed cars? And looking at the track map after watching the video, I guess I shouldn't be so surprised to see the GTR passed you like you're standing still. I assumed the GTR was tuned and on race compound? Just curious, how fast are you able to go at end of some of these long straights?

Thanks guys...

The Gtr was one of "forged performances" cars.. Highly tuned 2013 Gtr (the 545 hp 2.7 0-60 ones)

I was hitting about 137 on the back straight, I think the gtr's were doing 150?

I consistently passed the cayman r.. That was the cayman r I caught at the end of the video

Thanks man been trying to get better! I wouldn't do the turbo until I new my laptimes wouldn't get any faster without it.. I had Sunir drive my car on VIR and he was definetly faster than I.. Im the limit now, when I feel I need more (assuming another year)...I'm getting that turbo..
