Pics from Porsche Driving Experience

Porsche invited us to the Monticello Motor Club in New York for a nice marketing event. Got to take the PDK-equipped Boxster S for two brief auto cross laps on the track. It was the first time that I got to drive the car and I am very pleased. No more second thoughts on my order. We also got to drive a few laps in the Panamera GTS, 991 and 991S. All in all, it was a fun time.

Very nice. Your pictures really look good. Particularly the two in the middle of the ones that were added after the fact. What camera were you using? The picture of the silver Boxster looks very good.

How much total seat time did you have?

It was minimal. Two autocross laps in the Boxter (maybe 2 minutes total), a track lap in each of the Panamera GTS, base 991 and 991S, and a quick comparison drive in either a Cayenne or Panamera gas v. hybrid - I would say a total of 10 minutes max.

For me, this was an opportunity to get my first experience (albeit very limited) with the new Boxster. I have one on order with a July build date and have been struggling with whether to stick with it or go to a 991/991S. While driving it was very limited, I appreciated having the chance to see and feel the car up-close, especially getting to sit in it with the top up. I am 6'3" and the old Boxster/Cayman always felt too tight. The new Boxster is noticeably roomier. I actually had to move the seat forward when I got my chance to drive.

This was my wife's first track experience and she had a blast.

No - All of the cars were PDK. I left the cars in sport or sport plus mode with auto shifting and they were quite impressive on the track. My Boxster order is for a manual and I do not regret that choice.
