Has anyone put slicks on a Cayman?

I am trying to fit slicks on a 2008 Cayman S and cannot find any slicks that will pair with the existing 18" wheels. What are my options? Do I need to change to a 17" wheel?

I haven't heard anyone do it, but just a word of caution:
The Cayman S is not equipped with a dry sump. Running on slicks, you will pull G-forces that will give you an issue with lubrication and possibly an engine failure.

If only I would get off my can and create a custom dry sump. I should for the few of us who want to do such bad things to this brilliant car.

Nitto NT-01s
BF Goodrich G-Force R1s
Hooser R6
These have 18" tires to fit a Cayman

I run the BF Gs with 225-40/18 and 275-35/18

Are you guys using the term "slicks" for D.O.T. R-compound tires?

As for R-comps I just put a set of Nitto NT-01 18s on my car and it make all the difference in the world in handling and braking. I was not having much fun on the Michelins.

I could be wrong, but aren't Cayman racers running slicks? And, no, I'm not talking about R comps. Plenty of people running Hoosier R6s.

You have that big engine, you need some tires.

Will you take me for a ride next time you're at Barber's?

"You have that big engine, you need some tires."

Also GT3 front brakes w/ Performance Friction 08s - Michelins could not handle the braking power. And the PSM didn't like locking them up.

"Will you take me for a ride next time you're at Barber's?"

If they'll let me. Road Atlanta in 3 weeks. Do I know you, Dave?

I don't think we have met yet, I drive a Grey Boxster with 987S Barber's tag. I'm an instructor for the AL PCA, so I can ride with anyone.
I'll be back out at Barber's next month with ReZoom.

For 2012 Cayman Interseries is using Pirelli slicks. Way stickier than R6's.
