I loved the swishing sound the clear engine cover provided my cayman. no negative side-effects of this mod, whatsoever, in my opinion. this is one of the main things I miss about the 987 vs my 997.

I totally agree. Just could not pass up the opportunity to own a Porsche Spyder or I would still be driving my Cayman with the clear engine cover.

The engine compartment looks fantastic (I know you have now sold the car). How difficult was it to remove the manifolds and have them painted? Was the Porsche lettering done in paint as well? There is some significant effort being made by a fellow over on the 986 Forum to do this for Boxsters and I am considering buying the clear cover and then painting the manifolds, or having them painted.

What I actually did was to buy a new set of manifold covers and had my body shop paint them and yes the Porsche lettering was done in paint as well. When the manifolds were finished I took them to my Porsche dealer and had them installed. I then sold the original unpainted ones on Ebay. The reason I bought the new manifold cover was so that I could use my Cayman while the covers were being painted so the only down time I had was when they were being installed.
