Help needed with a couple of issues
Help needed with a couple of issues
Yesterday it rained bad and the floor board of my wife's 2005 Boxster had standing water. I immediately disconnected the battery and soaked up as much of the water as I could. The nose of the car was facing downhill, which didn't help. Today I was able to remove the driver seat and take out the alarm control module and dry it off completely. I reinstalled everything after it was dry but now I am getting a rear spoiler fault, as well as the rear trunk will not open. Oh and the reverse lights stay on after the car has been turned of and the key removed. Any suggestions as to how I can fix these issues? Thanks for any help.
After doing a ton of reading on multiple forums and there is a system fault showing also, I'm going to try and replace the front control module. Looks like that could possibly solve some of my issues. Now I just have to find the part numbers so I can figure it out and get one ordered.
As far as the front control module goes, no water got to it. From what ice read, it throws a code when it fails due to static electricity on 997s. So I imagine that it happened when I disconnected or reconnected the battery.
So now I'm taking it to the dealer Friday to have all the codes read and deleted. If that doesn't fix it then I will have to order a new front module that goes in the front trunk.
On a side note I'm trying to sell the wife on getting a Cayman S after these repairs are done and I fix the motor for the soft top that stopped working two months ago also.

You didn't say in your post how you're determining different modules need to be replaced. So, I hope you are troubleshooting this car with a Durametric, and not chasing the symptoms. If you can, you should find someone local with a Durametric Pro to help. If you are PCA member, you can ping folks from local chapter.. I'm sure someone will be happy to help.
BTW, were you able to determine how water go into the car? Did wife leave top or window open, both? These cars are pretty water tight... (I've driven through tropical storms and never had water intrusion problem - except when I open the door to get in/out during rain
) And unless wife is ready to rid the car before the next rain hits, I'd try to figure that out first.
The most common cause is the rear drain holes behind the seats.. Hole right above the yellow arrow can get clogged with stuff, and when water can't drain through that hole... overflow will be into the car. Check both passenger and driver side.
