Hello gents,

I am getting my brake calipers painted and would like some suggestions for the color. My car is a 2011 Meteor Gray Cayman with black interior, standard rims. I myself have narrowed it down to Red and Yellow, but I have also seen something known as "acid green" that might be interesting and could be an option as well. I am not trying to be a poser or anything (ya know like how S's have red and Ceramics are yellow).

Thanks much for your suggestions!

(Btw this is a daily driver not a track car)

Is there going to be anything else with accents in ether one of these colors in your car (red or yellow) ? I am just wondering if your going with a theme at all.

I'm with ECS; if you're going with a theme, let's say red seat belts, then red. If that's all you're colorizing, then Acid Green sounds interesting.

No other accents on the car. At most I may paint the wheels black later. I asked the opinions of the service department at one Porsche dealership and they unanimously suggested red calipers (as it matches the taillights). I asked the opinions of the service department of another Porsche dealership and they all said "yellow" at the same time and were 100% adamant about it. My close friends also are adamant about yellow. I would say the guys at the dealership that suggested yellow were much more passionate about and straightforward with the suggestion (as soon as they heard my car color was meteor gray) than the people at the other dealership who suggested red.

I just got back on Friday from the Porsche Parade (868 cars), in Traverse City - Michigan, and if you want t be like everyone (including me) paint them red. There were a few yellow but the rare ones were those that went with another color.

I vote for the green.

This was my first Porsche Parade and mainly because it was only a 10 hour drive across Michigan's incredible upper peninsula. I have only owned my 986 for the last year and a half and like many I am making it into what I personally want. Last month I changed out the solid discs to drilled and slotted mainly for the look. As long as I was taking everything apart I also changed the color of the calipers from stock dark gray to red. All Porsche brakes are Brembo's and Brembo's are usually red so that is what I went with.

Like many at the Parade I walked the parking lot to see what others were doing to their cars. I saw very few dark gray calipers. Most (80%) were red. Yellow was next but the ones that stood out were another color. That is why I suggest you go with the green. It is nice to make your car stand out from the crowd. I'm thinking stripes for mine to make mine different from others. There were a lot of silver 986's in attendance. Hardly a one with a stripe and none with the carbon fiber wing I have already put on the back. Thinking a darker gray to contrast with the silver.

The green should look great on your car. Find something else to accent too, mirrors maybe, pin stripe, etc.?

We always go up to the UP to snowmobile and relax during the winter, absolutely amazing there. Thank you for the link, I'll have to check it out tonight.
