Maintenance & Running Costs of a Boxster S vs. a 911 Cab

What are the maintenance & running costs like of a used Boxster S vs. a used 911 Cab ? I'd be looking at 2010-2011 models for the 911, and 2012 models for the Boxster S.

911 Cab is marginally higher for things like clutches and tires.

Not too much of a difference.

The much higher cost is that the 911 Cab looks weird compared to a proper roadster.

911 has bigger tires, so higher replacement cost, but beyond that, nothing jumps out as significantly different. Outside of the 911 higher cost, but maybe the earlier model 911's will equalize the price with the BS?

I think you'll only find 2012 Boxsters in Europe.

Thank you for the info! Not to derail this thread - but also considering an Audi TTS - seems like purchasing cost and running cost are less. I already have a Porsche Macan, so would ideally like to keep it in the Porsche family, but the TTS "value" is very attractive. Anyone has any experience with both?

As a previous boxster owner I always assumed I was paying the same as the person with the 911 turbo etc... Oil change, regular maintenance, etc is probably similar. Replacement parts and such too... Heck most of the old 986 parts actually had 996 stamped on the part hehe

I've owned both and there really is not that much of a difference of maintaining either car.

Tire pricing difference was marginal too when comparing Michelin sizes for both cars. The only thing that stood out was the 997 ate tires in the 8k-12k(really pushing it) mileage range and my Boxster lasted a minimum of 10K.

Personally, I would never own any 911 cab, the 911 was originally build as a coupe, then made into a convertible. Doesn't look good and isn't as rigid. The Boxster was design as a roadster and it looks and feels like it.

I have both a 911 and a Boxster, service price is the same for both. My service adviser isn't going to tell me my oil change for my Boxster is going to be cheaper than my 997. Brakes replacement is going to be more on the Boxster bc of PCCB. You get the point.
