Boxster Spyder production numbers

I was seeing if anyone had heard if the new Spyder will be a limited production car like the GT4 or be easier to order. As of right now I'm not in a place to be able to order one but probably by early fall I can. My assumption would be it will be easier to get than a GT4 because it doesn't have any of the GT3 suspension parts but I haven't read anywhere that says different.

I think the front does have GT3 components and the rear is all new designed setup. Both front and rear have 3-way adjustable swaybars. Not sure if the Spyder will get the same treatment. The GT4 is going to be special and Spyder is probably going to be just like the previous one a go the lighted and tuned topless 981S. I would think that the new Spyder would be limited numbers, as well.

I'm sure you know what mine would be.

It seems both will start out somewhat limited production, but hopefully Porsche can increase production of these over time. The Spyder will not quite be a GT4, but that does not mean it won't be a very special Boxster. The 3.8 Spyder will be far better than the Boxster GTS in so many ways. If u can handle the idiosyncrasies of it's top, the Spyder 3.8 will be a very special car, very unlike previous Spyders, where they were mostly just cosmetic upgrades. The new 3.8 Spyder is the real deal!!

I'd jump on one, but have to hold out for a GT4, as I can no longer handle all the wind and solar exposure at age 70. 30-40 years ago, I couldn't get enough of open roadster driving. But now my eyes and skin can't handle it. So I must wait for a GT4...

My local dealer is selling the GT4 5 to 1 over the spyder. So, in our market at least it will be limited.

No insider info here, but it'd be surprising if the allocations don't become closer to equal over time. The Spyder is a few months behind so allocations have yet to flow much.

It's harder to get a Spyder than a GT4 or GT3RS. My local dealer delivered 30 GT4's and about 30 GT3RS but was only able to get allocation for 6 Boxster Spyders. The initial order for the Boxster Spyder was lukewarm compared to the GT4 so Porsche decided to cap the Boxster production and ramp up on more GT4's. So the 5 to 1 ratio or GT4's to Spyders is correct.

Do u or or anybody here have an idea how these numbers compared to the 981 GTS models? They are also relatively scarce, but it seems they are more available than Spyders and GT4s.

The GTS was not a limited run production. Limited Run is different than limited edition. It means they did not set a cap on the production like 500 for instance for the GT3RS 4.0.

GT4's and Spyders were limited Run productions meaning they only build these cars for a limited period of time and are limited to factory capacity during this period of time.

Compared to the GTS, you were able to go to a dealer and place an order for that car at anytime while that model was still current just as you would for a Boxster S or a base model Boxster. Just not that many people ordered the GTS version compared to the other variations.

Anyways, just got delivery of my Spyder. Didn't make it to me on the list to get a factory order due to the fact they cut production short but found one with only 2500 km on it and asking just few thousand over MSRP so I scooped it up.
