should I change transmission mounts

I have a base 986 with 72k on the clock. I just ordered an engine mount, even though I don't feel there's anything wrong with it,but I read that changing the engine mount to a new one will make the car more precise and fun to drive in terms of gear changing. Now I was wondering if I should also change the transmission mounts as well. They don't leak, so I think they must still be ok, but should I just change them as well?

My SOP is to only change something if it clearly needs changing.

While bad engine or transmission mounts may affect shifting action to replace them with no clear indication they need to be replaced is probably a waste of money.

I dare say any improvement in shifting in the case the mounts were ok is probably more imagined than real.

Be aware what can affect shifting action and moving the car off from a dead stop smoothly is the freshness of the brake/clutch fluid.

Be sure if you have not done so within the last 2 years to have the brake fluid and clutch fluid flushed and bled.

Just 2.5 year old fluid in my Boxster caused clutch and shifting problems that were eliminated with a brake/clutch fluid flush/bleed.

Might mention braking action before and after the flush/bleed was unaffected as best I could tell.

Yes I agree,I changed mine last year and it did make a difference, also changed the gearbox oil as I had never changed it before. Regarding tranny mounts,I think ill leave them for now but some people on these forums say that mounts on early boxsters go brittle after a while and that the car wont be as crisp as it should be. So basically I don't know if mine is "crisp" or not,but it sure doesn't feel bad. I dont know if changing the mounts will actually make my car feel any better, but since theyre not cheap I think ill just make do with the engine mount for now,I believe that if the tranny mounts had to go they'd drip oil since there's hydraulic inside of them
