Things to do before taking Out of state delivery

I am looking at taking delivery of Boxster in couple of days. The dealer is not a prime volume dealer (out of state) and I need to drive 3 hours from my home. What are the things I need to look? (Tool Box, Manuals, spare tire etc?)

I am negotiating the price, hopefully not pissed them off. Want to be sure that I don't find something missing or NOT in order after coming home driving 200 miles

Thanks for your help

Is the car new? If so I will come with everything including manuals and tools. There are no spare tires for the Boxster. If its used, make sure is has a CPO which comes with an extended warranty beyond the manufactures original warranty. Also, make sure the salesperson goes over the car with you so you understand how everything works. I usually have them sync my phone and download my contact list before leaving the dealership. Good luck

What dealer has the car you are interested in?

Are you out-of-state buyers just paying/financing the price of the car and paying any local sales/property/title tax in your home state later when registering your new car? Or will some out-of-state dealers roll those fees into the loan (or lease?) and submit the paperwork on your behalf?

Depends on the state/County. In my case, the out-of-state dealer will roll fees into the loan and submit the paperwork on my behalf to the DMV

What blackbeauty said. I'd add be sure you get all keys 2 regular and one valet if that is still the norm. Be sure all work/fit.

Be sure the wheel lug bolt security tool is present and fits all 4 security wheel lug bolts.

Be sure all the documentation is present and for the particular car. Often times the dealer removes these and then puts them back in the car and sometimes things get mixed up.

Check vital fluid levels. Have salesman or a tech walk you through this.

Check that car looks ok, all floor mats are present and everything is tidy.

Try to schedule a pick up time that doesn't have you showing up at closing time or near it. Ideally you want to pick up the car and have enough time to drive the car around town some to give it a shake down drive just to make sure all is ok before heading home. If a problem surfaces the dealer service is available to try to address it or you can have time to get a loaner or a rental car and get home again.

i agree with last statement. the head tech at my local dealer told me a story of a guy who went to Delaware to get a car to drive to CT. it went dead at the middle of the Delaware memorial bridge.

a good 30 min drive should loop back to the dealer you buy it from to check all fluid levels.

then drive it home and enjoy it.

be careful with all the new gadgets. i just go a new-to-me CS and while playing with stuff i almost ran off the road into a tree.

to start, KISS (keep it simple stupid). as time goes by you will become more familar.
