Should I get a GT4?

On January 26th, I took delivery of my 2016 GT3 RS and I absolutely love it. The RS joins my '10 997.2 GT3 and my '98 993 C2S. I just got offered a slot for a GT4 which leads to my question.

If I get the GT4, I would plan to use it mostly as a track car but I also intend to drive it on the street. Any guidance from GT4 owners? Is it as good as the hype? How is it on track? Any "must have" options aside from the bucket seats for the harnesses? I would appreciate the input of any GT4 owner, and especially if you could compare it to a 997 GT3.

One last question - before the GT4 slot came available, I had been considering adding a Cayman R as my predominantly track focused car. Has anyone had the experience of comparing the Cayman R with the GT4? Thoughts on these two?

Thanks in advance for your advice.

Both Cayman R and GT4 are great cars. GT4 would be a very nice add to your stable, a very fun and engaging car. Great fun on the track.

I had a 997.1 RS and the GT4 is more precise in handling, but a bit down on power. Overall the GT4 is probably faster on the track, stock vs stock.

Compared to your new RS and even your 10 GT3 it will feel quite slow. That is my only wish, is that it had another 50 hp!

Check out GT4 Forum (subforum to 987-981 thread) over on Rennlist there is a lot of good information there.

As far as build goes - LWB seats, extended range fuel tank, 2 zone climate control are the must have options. Rest is just personalization to your taste. reason for 2 zone climate is if you "don't" get it you have to fiddle with the temp all the time to maintain a constant temp. With 2 zone you just set temp and forget about it!

You would be disappointed and it is a great track car!

Not sure why you would want to have that many similar sports cars. The GT4 is a great car and would make a great track car, so would the both the GT3s. I'm trying to figure out why you still have a 993 or are you just collecting? Obviously money is not an issue for you so buy the car. If you don't like it, there are plenty of people that will take it off your hands with the limited quantity available.

If you look at my photos above - Alcantara steering wheel is leather - shifter boot is leather instead of Alcantara.

Photos can be seen at Rennlist GT4 thread.

The GT4 is by far on of the best cars I have ever driven truly REAL drivers car! Recently we hit 400 whp with only bolts on and a tune (more info to come) so I am going to put my vote in as a yes.

Hi Nick, can you share the exact mods you performed on the GT4 to archive 400whp. I ordered a GT4 3 weeks ago from a NJ Porsche dealer and should arrive in June.
