Exclamation Well, i surprisingly don't miss my 997 c2s...

Just received my '16 Boxster GTS w/manual trans and i must say: WOW.

To be honest, i was bit afraid i'd miss my 997.1 Carrera S... but no. In fact, i think that if Porsche fans from the '70s and '80s could have dreamed of what would be like a 911 in year 2016, you'd probably show and/or make them drive these Cayman/Boxster GTS and they'd think they're doing a pretty good job updating the 911 in the future

But, hey, guys-from-the-past... Nope, it's not a 911, that the entry-level baby sportcar from Porsche. Let's pretend it's what 914, 924, 944 and 968 never was able to achieve: stop dreamin' about having a 911.

Ohla, slow your horses, Johnny boy! The party won't last. 718 Boxster is comin' with a forced induced 4cyl....

Well, no problem then. I'll consider my flat-6 N/A Boxster GTS as my last ''real'' Porsche... until next time!

LOL - I too have owned a number of 911's and yes they are awesome cars. I'm very happy with my BGTS. It has excellent power and terrific handling. Lets see your BGTS.

Hey Bob, i'll post pics later this week..

The BGTS is a blast to drive, the overall package makes the car almost perfect.
Since i can play picky, let's talk about the ''almost'':

1. Could have a bit more low-RPM torque. Something that can, supposedly, be fixed with some ECU flash and aftermarket headers.

2. To my taste, the PASM in Sport plus mode is a bit too soft and the Normal (comfort) mode could be a tad smoother. The difference could be less subtle between the two modes, but i can't really complain because the ride is extremely good for such vehicle AND handles like crazy.

3. Sound system (base version) sounds like s***. But, hey, another reason to listen to the great engine/exhaust...

4. Pirelli Pzero are good jack-of-all-trades tires, but they master none. When pushed hard, the car oversteer a bit too much to my taste. I ordered Michelin Sport Cup 2, that should bring this already awesome car to a new level... We'll see.

5. I'd like being able to turn off ALL the electronic driving help stuff, except the rev-match. But that is not possible. Once you press the ''you're-on-your-own-now-buddy'' button, you're losing everything except ABS, if i'm correct, including the Torque Vectoring..

6. Gearing is a bit tall, but i think it's not as bad as the Spyder and GT4... No a real issue to me.

You need to use the RPM range but agree more torque would be nice.

Just had mine on a 2400 road trip including tail of the dragon and other mountain roads. No complaints in the handling or ride area.

I have the Bose, frankly it's not bad..

When the Pirelli tires wear out I'll get Michelin Pilot Super Sports. I think the cups are best on the track IMO

Overall the car is a def B+ nice choice!

I did a Porsche event in ATL a couple years ago and had a chance to test drive a Boxster S and 911S back to back (987.2 and 997.2 vintages). I thought the 911 felt very heavy vs. the Boxster which was to my butt was much more agile. Personally, I have no desire to downgrade from a mid-engine Boxster to a rear engine 911.

Looking forward to pix of your car Jon. I ordered mine with X73 sport suspension rather than PASM, and I have zero complaints. Even on uneven road construction the suspension is firm but not harsh. Sounds like I might have made the right choice. I was going for more of an analog car and chose the 6 speed vs. PDK too. About the only thing that I would want on the GTS that it doesn't have is the 3.8 from the Spyder.

The only thing I missed on my 918 BS is manual transmission. I like to drive my 997 more b/c of that, my 997 has a lot more hp but can't used that on my normal drive to and from work. Prefer to drive top down on nice days so if the BS was MT, it would have been the perfect car for me.

Nice build! Now the really hard part of the waiting game begins. Hoping that maybe the build will start a few days early or that the car gets completed a few days early. Doesn't really matter as it will end up on whatever boat it is scheduled for. Then you get the watch the ship online and hope it gets to port a few days early. I tracked the ship carrying my GTS back in November from Germany to Holland to England to Valencia Spain to Nova Scotia to New Jersey to Maryland and finally to Jacksonville. Talk about painful! I though the boat was never going to get to JAX - as it was, it arrived a couple days late. Grrrrrrrrr!

Now 2,000km done with my GTS, still happy as i never was before with any motorized (or not, for that matter) vehicle.

Still, that is my last week with the car being stock. That will include a little trip to Mont-Tremblant racetrack.

After that; ECU Flash, Headers and Michelin Cup 2 tires.

Will give you my comments later as well as some pictures (with the new tires, which will change the look since it's not original sizes)

How are you able to track all of those details ?

The sales rep from the dealer emailed me a screen shot of the build status page in the Porsche system any time it changed. When it was loaded on the ship, he sent me the name of the ship and there are several web sites that allow you to track the location of any ship. The web site that I used was: www.marinetraffic.com . You can type in the name of the ship and it will show you its location, except when it is in the middle of the Atlantic. Warning: it is painful! Enjoy!!!

Michelin Cup 2 installed and ''Race'' alignment done (max camber + toe 0.0)

Will have to go again on the track to really give you final comments and feedbacks, but what i was a bit afraid of didnt happen: the car is still very comfy, it's not noisier, tires warms up without problem (didnt try in cold temp tough) and the traction is absolutely fantastic.
Only downside is i feel the need for more power... but, hey, that was kind of expected: I now have 245 instead of 235 on front and 285 instead of 265 on rear, so there is more friction (but more grip, obviously). Finally, it fits well on the stock 20x8 and 20x9.5 wheels, even tough it looks a bit ''racy'' on the rear, i cannot hide it anymore that i'll go at the track with it :-)

Bottomline, so far so good.
